Episode Synopsis

 Victorique explains the method of murder.

 Victorique explains the method of Simon Hunt's murder to the two ladies who helped her and Kazuya board the train; by using a slipknot, Morella the  nun undid the knot and stabbed him with the dagger. she says however, that's not what she's trying to figure out, but is interrupted by suddenly sneezing, to which one of the girls gives Kazuya a handkerchief, and he takes care of Victorique. then a burly man, along with a younger one ask if there's space in the cabin, and join in.  
 

The passengers on the train in general discuss how fortunate they were to escape the waters rising at the convent, and begin to introduce themselves. in the cabin, the dark haired girl states she is an orphan, and doesn't even know her own birthday, and has entered phantasmagoria in hopes of finding it, before she dies. the lady accompanying her introduces herself as the Scarecrow. puzzled, Kazuya asks if this is a game. playing along, the older man introduces himself as the knight, and the younger one as the woodcutter. Victorique introduces herself as a proud, ancient Gray Wolf, with her dullard servant, to Kazuya's chagrin, who she flicks.

Brian and Cordelia mention that they believe Victorique will recapture the box, as it is the trump card of the Grey Wolves, and it should protect her from the incoming storm. as Brian ponders what is to become of them, Cordelia reassures him that they are other plans, and beseeches Victorique to solve the riddle she put before her.

In the newspaper, the disappearance of a Ms. Lesglant is noted in Saubure. Kazuya asks what Victorique was talking about earlier, to which she asks him if he knows what a memento box is. she states that it is used to collect items at different stages of a person's life, and is buried with them. she says that the box at Beelzebub's Skull must have someone's posessions in them, and that's what her mother and her companion were after, and vows to learn the truth about the box.   
 

Suddenly,  the lights go out and the train accelerates. when the power returns, Kazuya realizes sheepishly he was sitting on Victorique, and quickly gets off her, where she says she'll get him back for it later. the Sacrecrow leaves to get some things from the engine room, at which point, the Orphan notices she is missing something, then asks the Knight to get something with the Scarecrow was well.
the Scarecrow was then seen at the edge of the train, looking out, when she was confronted by the Knight. she tried to stab him with a hidden knife, but was parried, and herself stabbed by the knight, demanding that she return the object she stole from the Orphan.

Kazyuya apologizes to the Orphan about bringing up her personal matters earlier, to which she mentions she doesn't care. she is surprised, however, by Kazuya telling her he hopes she finds her birthday. Kazuya notices the Scarecrow's body falling to the side of the train. Victorique goes to investigate, disguising herself as a maid. Kazuya compliments her on it, to which he receives a kick on the shin.  
 

In the wireless room, the Woodcutter is communicating with his sister, who is calling for him to help him. Victorique and Kazuya notice the room and see him come out, where he belittles his conversation. Orphan and Knight meet up with them, as they went to look for them. Woodcutter then suggests to drink in the galley throughout the night, to which Knight agrees.

In the dining room, they set up a bowl filled with raisins and set it alight, in order to play a game. Kazuya offered to go first, but was elbowed by Victorique not to do so, and Woodcutter goes first instead. his wish is to see his homeland in the spring next year.. the

Orphan goes next, and wishes that the Woodcutter does get to his homeland. however, when she goes to drink water, Victorique warns her not to do so, but it was too late, as she collapsed to the floor, and Victorique accuses Woodcutter of poisoning her.
Kazuya goes to help her and calls for a doctor, while Victorique interrogates Woodcutter. she calls him on his plan to use a poison that mixes over time in water, so that while he didn't drink the water when it was contaminated as he went first, Orphan did so, and became poisoned.
Infuriated, Knight rushes Woodcutter with his knife, but woodcutter pulls out a pistol (possibly a M1911) and shoots him in the abdomen, where Knight falls to the ground. He puts the gun to Victorique's head, but she demeans him enough to call him out as Lesglant, and a member of the Ministry of the Occult, as Orphan rushes underneath the table and shoots him in the shin with a .44 Magnum.

Orphan declares that he shall never get the box she holds, fires a shot at the ceiling, and struggles off down the hall. Kazuya tries to go after her, but is topped by Knight, who explains that she and everyone else is going to die on the  train, as they did not send a relay message to other operators, and were going to derail the train. Knight says it would be better for all to die and the Ministry of the Occult not to get hold of the box, than for them to live and let the box fall in the wrong hands. he leaves the cabin, locking it as he leaves.

Woodcutter tells them to get to the locomotive, and Kazuya breaks the window with a chair to climb on top of the train. Victoruque holds him back, saying naturally, she's coming too. Kazuya begins to protest, but the determination in her eyes tells him otherwise.

As he pulls her off, they see two people fall from the train, which urges them to hurry forward. they move, only to be held off by Knight behind them.  the keep on moving forward, jumping onto the coal cart as it passes under a bridge. however, Knight, still hindered by his bullet wound, doesn't make it in time, and is killed from the bridge.

They reach the room to find Orphan on the ground, clutching her chest, and the engine controls smashed. intially, she tells Kazuya not to touch her, and he isn't getting the box, but he tells her he cares nothing of it, and is fearing for her life. softened by his words, she tells him of a bomb on the tracks, incoming, and is scared to go to hades, not without a birthday. she calls for her mother, and does in Kazuya's arms.

Victorique takes her magnum and fires it outside trying to shoot trigger mechanism for the bomb. she keeps on firing until Kazuya stops her and there is only one bullet left. He insists on firing it, but once again is stopped by Victorique, who says, she must demonstrate her power so that she may live. Kazuya agrees, but says he must accompany her, and brings her to the very front of the train to give her a clear shot. she declares nothing is impossible for a Gray Wolf, and even though she's never fired a gun, she knows the mechanism. as she aims towards the target, Kazuya holds her hands, steadying her aim, and says He knows she can do it, and they she return home after the storm to their Saint Margurette Academy.

As they fire, Cordelia, in the distance, is startled by the noise, but smiles when she realizes what the sound is, and that the two had succeeded. as the two celebrate and congratulate each other, Victorique tells Kazuya that the train will stop eventually as there's no coal being fed to the engine, and throws the handgun away.

as the train stops, she explains that Lesglant was used as an improptu spy for the ministry of the Occult, as his sister was kidnapped by them, and held at ransom for the memento box, which she holds. she opens it, and finds an umbilical cord, a child's drawing, a perfume bottle and a note saying "don't turn around" in french. She states, however, that the box is unfinished, and the man owning it is alive, because it was found in a house in the Nameless Village. her mother's photo was in, and it was revealed that the owner of the box is none other than Jupiter Roget, the head of the Science academy. She gives the box to Lesglant, saying it should free his sister, and isn't sure what the Ministry of the Occult would do with it. she walks away, with Kazuya chasing after her, and Lesglant looking behind them, saying thank you, silently.

Kazuya asks if its ok to let the box fall into the Marquis' hands, but she says no worries, as she solved her mother's riddle, as she still holds the trump card, a folded piece of paper out of sight.
