Ahh, debt culture. I'm sure there are more than a few otaku who fund their DVD, manga, and figure-buying lifestyles with the help of a credit card company. Like, say, CapitalOne-- I assume that you can customize your card in Japan kinda like you can here in the US, so that it has any picture you want, right? But VISA is fighting back: with an Idolmaster VISA card.

It's an official deal, called the AiMasu VISA Card, featuring the Idol girls in “punky gothic” attire-- a special illustration specifically for the card. No word on other features or APR...but I guess if this is the card you want, you're probably less worried about that stuff.

Awesome! A otaku credit card. Finally! I was hoping that I can get that Street Fighter IV credit card, but this one looks cool. I'm still concern about the features and such

I keep wanting to do that with one of my cards but always hesitate for some reason. Awesome card though

ethan: I am so jealous that you have no credit cards! I finished paying off a rather largeish debt on mine-- took forEVER!

These aren't the first anime related cards I've seen.  There were some Macross cards issued during the twentieth anniversary a few years ago.  I imagine there have been others.  I don't know about Capitol One or other issuers, but the bank I work for has rules against using images under copyright for cards (we were actually the first bank to start issuing personalized cards).  Don't know how much they actually look into image ownership though (probably only if someone complains).  Personally, I just stick with debit and pre-paid cards at this point.  Oh, and if anyone is interested, the issuer of this card was Sumitomo Mitsui Card Company Limited.

That's a really ugly credit card. Not saying the picture is ugly or anything but where the words are placed and stuff... it just has an ugly presentation.

I don't have a credit card. I should get one so I can order stuff online instead of depending on my parents' card. I'd rather use my lovely debit card but companies only want credit cards...

This isn't the first anime credit card, Evangelion ones have been around forever.

(Actaully they mentioned this in an earlier issue of famitsu a while back)

This is pretty nice. The Capital One cards suck because you can upload any picture as long as it isn't:

- a character

- a logo

- a celebrity

- non-public domain art

Pretty much you can only use your family, your pets, or wildlife, which makes it worthless. I tired having a Panty & Stocking card but it got rejected.
