 The Familiar of Zero
 The Familiar of Zero
The next anime that I decided to watch was Zero no Tsukaima aka The Familiar of Zero.  There are three seasons of the show and one OVA.  I could say this show doesn’t need an introduction since it’s quite popular, but I will post the plot summary from Wikipedia for those of you who don't know about the show.  Here is how the show starts out:

The Familiar of Zero follows the adventures of the protagonists
Louise and her familiar Saito. Louise is a second year student at the Tristain Academy of Magic. In this world, those who can use magic are either mages or nobles.

Louise is terrible at magic, and can never use it the way she wants to. She is given the nickname "Zero Louise" by her classmates, due to the inability to use any of the four common magic elements, whereby a mage's power is determined by the number of elements they can use ranging from a single element, one (dot mage), two (line) three (triangle) and four (square). Early in the school year, the second year students summon their familiars; this is considered a special ritual where a mage summons their eternal protector and partner, which usually is some sort of magical creature. Louise manages to summon a human commoner named Saito Hiraga, leaving her totally humiliated. Due to the sacredness of the ritual, Louise is left with no choice but to reluctantly accept Saito as her familiar. She proceeds to treat Saito as any other familiar only worse, making him sleep on a bed of hay and beats him with a whip for little to no reason, among other things.
 Our friend Saito.
 Our friend Saito.

One day Saito challenges a noble who disrespects commoners (
Guiche) to a duel. Saito is beaten badly at first, but once a sword was put in Saito's hands, he gained a mysterious power and with this power he is able to defeat the noble in the duel. Louise and Saito's relationship's develop during the course of the story. Together they face many mysteries and uncover unexpected truths, including the nature of Saito's mysterious power, and the truth behind Louise's inability to cast magic.

That’s the basics of the show.  The Familiar of Zero is a romantic/comedy with magic, adventure , and harem elements.  The show resolves around Louise (a tsundere) and her familiar, Saito and their adventures and you get to see their love relationship go up and down.  Besides Louise and Saito, there are many other characters as well.  Here are some of the important ones:  Agnes, Colbert, Guiche, Henrietta, Kirche, Montmorency, Osmand, Siesta, Tabitha, and Tiffania.  Lots of side characters in this show, some more important then others.  I really enjoyed Siesta.  She is a maid at the academy, but later becomes Saito's maid.  Since she is in love with Saito, she as the compete with Louise to get him.  Guiche is another great character was well.  He was the ladies man and all the ladies loved him.  He would go out with other girls even though he devoted himself to Montmorency.

 Don't piss off Louise
 Don't piss off Louise
Louise and Saito are easily the stars of the show and is probably why I really enjoyed it.  For Louise being and tsundere, she is always picking on poor Saito.  Whipping him and making him to humiliating things.  When she got mad at Saito for kissing or hugging another girl, she would just use her explosion spell at blast it at Saito.  On the other hand we have Saito, who was brought into this world thanks to Louise.  I guess you can see he is your average teenage kid with the powers of Gandalfr so he can kick some ass.  Besides those two, they story was solid.  It kinda jumped all over the place from war going on to saving Tabitha.  I guess I wont say it was a great story, but it was solid and kept me entertained.
The Familiar of Zero was a great romantic comedy and I really enjoyed it.  I loved Louise and Saito for their charm and goofiness.  The harem elements were good as well since I dig it.  If you are looking for a romantic show or looking for something funny, give this show a shot.
My Score - 4.5/5

Good review.
Are you submitting these to database or just the forum?
Which/how many of the seasons have you seen?
Were they in order at that time?
We have a page for Osmond. Was it a personal statement not to link him in the middle there?
Why didn't you bring up Scarron, the sex appeal of the series?

I enjoyed what I saw of the series (which was the second season and part of the 3rd.) From what I understand it just seems to loop plot devices for the most part, which is why I lost the drive to find time to finish it. Though that wasn't a comment on its quality. Though I will feel that occasionally the super pervy bits just go a bit super pervy. Which I'm still fine with, but when series have a really modulating amount of fan service, it kinda feels like a 8 year old kid jumping up and down while waving its hands.

1.  Just to the forum.  Maybe I should start submitting them to the review section.
2.  I watched all three seasons.
3.  Yes.
4.  I don't know why I didn't link him.
5.  I totally should have.  What was I thinking?

You had me at "and harem elements" :-)  Seriously though, thanks for enlightening me to this intriguing series.  I've added it to my must-watch list even though it may be several months before I actually get around to it.  Ah well, tomorrow is not never.

@PenguinDust: Glad to see that you are interested.  :-)  It is a great series with three seasons.  I bet there will be a fourth season some time in the future because they could easily make more since there are still some plot holes they need to finish plus the light novel is still going on.  I haven't heard anything if they are going to make more yet, but I hope they do.

@JJOR64:   I hope you're right.  Remember it was 11 years between the first three seasons of The Slayers and the 4th season.
