The Fake Salamander
Even though the witty play on words for this title suggest fiction with glass slippers and red hoods, I was surprised how... " shounen
" this series is.
This anime is based on a world of magic
, mages and spells, where everybody belongs to a guild, and the guild that every mage wants to be a part of is the Fairy Tail Guild
, which is Lucy
(the main female protagonist) goal. The Good
The story seems to be a solid mix of action and teen angst among other other things like the magic that involves this story. The main characters Natsu
are definitely happy-go-lucky characters that can also be action heroes when the situation asks for it. Those kinds of characters are my favorite in anime especially because it means that they will be the reason for trouble, and in the end also be the saviors.
Although the art is not very original the spells and magics to the animations are very visually desired. I do love Salamander's spells, being that magic is not something that exist the imagination certainly goes wild when trying to express fictional armaments and fights, especially to the Japanese.
Cutest talking, flying cat ever!
This is obviously a set up episode so other than introductions and the small fight with the episode's villain nothing really happened. Lucy's character seemed somewhat "needy" but at least was able to use her strengths as a character to fend off evil.
Not much negative feedback can be given to a "set up" episode because I don't know where this series is going but it has potential. The Verdict 3.5 out of 5
I do know that this is a popular show and that soon the second season will start but I guess I have to watch more to really say I liked it...
Also for some unknown reason I found myself singing "Oh Oh Oh It's Magic" over and over again...
