Plot Summary

The episode opens on board Air Force One as the zombie infection spread to the President of the United States Cabinet and family, the dead being neutralized as the Secretary of State urges the President to fire ICBM's at countries that could be a threat to a collapsed America. He points out that both he and the President have been bitten and will eventually succumb to their wounds and turning into one of Them soon. The President is reluctant to fire weapons during a worldwide pandemic as the Secretary starts to fall further to the infection, asking the Secret Service to dispose of him as the President gives him last rights. We then see Washington D.C. in utter chaos and ruins as the United States has fallen to the pandemic.

Back in Japan, the group is using the Hummer to drive across the shallow part of the river, Alice and Kohta singing variatons of "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" before Kohta provides his own rendition about killing zombies. Takagi quickly berates him for coming up with a heinous version of the nursery rhyme, saying he might scare Alice. In the Hummer, Rei awakens to find herself on Takashi's shoulder with Saeko in his lap, which causes Takashi to get into a panic and Saeko blushing madly due to her drooling on his lap. As they get across the river, Shizuka reveals that she took some of Rika's clothes from the aprtment and urges the girls to change as Kohta briefs Takashi on how to use the shotgun, claiming it would work better in close combat than his baseball bat. As the girls finish changing, they conclude that they will try to make contact with their families, the first being Takagi's since her house is the closest.

Takashi and Kohta run up to the street level, finding the roads to be barren but things still in shambles, proving that while zombies were there, they have dispersed somewhere else. They call the hummer up to the street as they proceed to drive to Takagi's apartment, finding immediately groups of zombies in clusters in areas closer to the middle of town. After some maneuvering the Hummer, Shizuka side slams into a wire fence aimed to keep the zombies out. She tries to get it going again after Kohta directs her how to drive an American made car, only for Shizuka to drive into a curb, causing Rei and Takashi who were on the top to fall some, Takashi keeping his grip as Rei falls down to the curb. As she recoils in horror, Takashi leaps down to defend her, quickly learning how to better use the shotgun as Saeko, Takagi, and Kohta give him cover. The hoard proves to be too much and Takashi drops his shells, remembering that Rei had strppaed a sniper rifle to her, grabbing it and using her as a makeshift cover as he tries to fight the group, missing every shot.

As the situation worsens, Kohta grabs Alice and tries to get her over the fence to safety, claiminghe would be there soon. Alice claims that she won't go as Kohta has the same look on his face as her father did before he died, knowing that he is lying that she would be safe and he'd be alright. As she continues to cry, Takashi grabs the shotgun, out of ammo, and uses it as a club in an attempt to lure the zombies up a flight of stairs, Saeko assisting him as they make noise to get them to follow. The hoard idoes not follow them and instead makes a further advance towards the Hummer. As things seem bleak, a group of uniformed soldiers appear with freeze cannons as they make quick work of the zombies, getting the group on the ground over the fence, the leader revealing herself to be Yuriko Takagi, Takagi's mother. As the girl embraces her mother, they remember that Takashi and Saeko are still stuck up above, yelling that they should head to her house for safety, leaping immediately to meet at the rendezvous point.
