Plot Summary

General Varrot assigns Alicia to be Lieutenant Welkin Gunter's subordinate which Alicia finds shocking. Later, Welkin bumps into Faldio who asks Welkin why he enter the military. Welkin replies when he saw his hometown being torn apart asunder, he wants to end the war as quickly as possible. In the squad 7's first meeting, Welkin introduces himself to his squad while Alicia notices that Largo and Rosie are not happy with Welkin as their leader due to Welkin's inexperience. After General Varrot's debriefing of Vasel Bridge, Rosie and the other Squad 7 members (Largo, Homer, Oscar, Jahn) talk about Isara and how she is a Darcsen. In the city, Welkin and Alicia notices that Rosie and the others are bugging Isara for her Darcsen heritage. When Largo remarks that Welkin has no experience, Welkin suggests making a bet. If Welkin manages to take back the Vasel Bridge, Largo and the others must obey his orders. If Welkin does not, Largo will take over Squad 7.

In Welkin's plan, his plan of taking the enemy by surprise stuns Largo and the others when Welkin and Isara plan to drive the Edelweiss through the river. In the invasion, Welkin and the others successively take over the bridge. As day breaks, Largo and the others acknowledge Welkin, but Rosie will not listen to Isara.
