Operation Odessa is set to commence, White Base will play a role in attacking the Zeon from their rear flank while Revil's forces are thrown at the front. However, the operation is in peril when Amuro discovers the spy within the Federation, and goes to confront the situation. With Amuro's success in finding the spy the operation commences as planned. M'Quve had planned for the Federation to be sabotaged by the spy's efforts and when this did not take effect, the weakly defended front line was brushed aside by Federation forces.
Amuro and White Base battle the remnants of the Black Tri-star until Amuro is tasked with destroying a Thermonuclear missle launched from M'Quve's headquarters. Missle attacks such as these were banned with the Antartic Treaty, but M'Quve argues that the Zeon wants to win the war and must use drastic measures.
Amuro is successful in destroying the missle before it can do any harm, the Zeon's mining operation is destroyed and M'Quve escapes on the Zanzibar space ship that the Black Tri-star arrived on. Despite the loss of the mine M'Quve was able to mine enough resources to sustain the Zeon war machine for another ten years.
