Kiritsugu checks up in Irisviel while Maiya is on lookout. Irisviel gives Avalon to Kiritsugu once her body cannot function. She tells Kiritsugu that she is happy because she has a husband and a daughter. Irisviel wants Kiritsugu to bring their daughter to Japan someday. Kiritsugu tells Maiya that he is going to hunt down Tokiomi since Saber is searching for Rider. He instructs Maiya to stay here and protect Irisviel. Meanwhile, Saber is searching by car while Weaver is shopping. At Tokiomi's mansion, Kiritsugu finds it odd that no barriers are set.

Elsewhere in the forest, Weaver chats with Rider and wonders why he has not used Weaver's mana. He notes that Rider has used his own mana twice, and Rider does not want to endanger his master's life. The two talk about if the Holy Grail does exist. Rider shares his experiences about showing Oceanus is real, and he had to accept the fact that the world is round in the old days. Weaver asks Rider why he wants to go after Saber. Rider replies that he has to beat some sense in Saber before she goes off the wrong path.

Somewhere in the Matou manor, Kariya suffers from a nightmare when Berserker consumes him. He wakes up and finds out he has been chained to the wall with worms in his wounds. Zouken forces Kariya to eat a worm that has fed on Sakura's chastity and mana. Kariya feels disgusted as he writhes in pain and anguish. At the hideout, Irisviel asks Maiya why she fights for Kiritsugu. Maiya replies she had nothing before Kiritsugu who gave her a name. Somewhere in Fuyuki city, Saber is still looking for Rider while Kiritsugu treks carefully in Tokiomi's manor. With all of these things going at the same time, Maiya explains her background and that her life has full of strife because people kidnap children and force them to fight. She has been taught to point and shoot. Maiya states that Kiritsugu is free to use her life as he see fit. She tells Irisviel that she is surprised at Irisviel's passion to fight for Kiritsugu's ideals. Meanwhile, Kiritsugu finds a bloodstain and deduces that Tokiomi is dead. Maiya asks Irisviel if she has a wish. Irisviel wishes for Saber and Kiritsugu to obtain the Holy Grail and end all strife by making this fourth Grail war the last one. Irisviel asks Maiya what she will do, and Maiya states that she has no purpose. She tells Maiya that she can search for her family. Finally, Irisviel wants Maiya to live your life.
