Tetsuo Shima

Tetsuo grew up a miserable and disturbed youth, in the post apocalyptic city of Neo-Tokyo. Having to fight and war for every scrap of existence left it's undeniable impression on the boy. Testuo is often quick to anger. He eventually met a another troubled youth (more well adjusted but troubled none the less) in Kaneda Shotaro. Tetsuo and Kaneda bonded quickly, they both shared a love for motor bikes and machinery, and both grew up in poverty. Kaneda seemed to be the Ying to Tetsuo's Yang. Kaneda was the only person that was able to quell the storm that was Tetsuo's rage filled mind.

As the years passed, Kaneda introduced Tetsuo to other kids. Tetsuo did not care much for the other kids cause even though Kaneda liked him the others still saw him and treated him as an outcast. However one girl piqued Tetsuo's interest she was a shy and quite member of the gang her name was Kaori she also felt the same about Tetsuo... they became a couple in their teen years. It was also around this time that Kaneda offically named the gang "the Capsules" they had gone from hoodlums to a full fledged biker gang. Tetsuo and Kaneda would have ruled the city together if not for their rival gang "the Clowns".

Tetsuo, Kaneda and the capsules frequented bars, and generally terrorized the lower poorer sections of Neo-Tokyo pretty much uncontested. Uncontested except for "the Clowns with whom they consistently fought. During one particular brutal gang fight, Tetsuo bashed one of "the Clowns" in the face with a lead pipe while riding his bike. Shortly after noticing a small shriveled freakishly pale blue child standing in the highway... His bike exploded. he was sent tumbling painfully to the asphault. Kaneda rushed to aid the injured Tetsuo but it was too late... The military had arrived and restrained Tetsuo and took him aboard a military aircraft and carted him off to a military holding facility.

When Tetsuo woke in his bed his head was throbbing grotesquely, he clutched at it noticing it was bandaged. He remembered it colliding with the road in a painful thud and his vision going blurry then passing out from the blow. He felt uncomfortable in the military base. he was scared and needed the comforting of Kaori. He made that his first priority as he escaped noticing he now had Telekinetic abilities he used them to free himself... he had to find Kaori.

Once he escaped still wearing his hospital garb, He headed directly to where he knew he could find Kaori. Once he found her, he explained the situation to the best of his ability. And pleaded with Kaori to run away with him, to just leave it all behind. After finding some more appropriate clothing he and Kaori set of for his Kaneda's Bike, he had always envied Kaneda and his Bike. So when the opportunity arrived he stole the bike while Kaneda was being questioned by Police. However after he and Kaori took the bike the ran into some of "the Clowns" from the night before. "the Clowns" out numbered the two of them. Tetsuo tried his best to stop them shouting threats and obscenities at them as they held him down, and forced him to watch as they ripped Kaori's clothes from her body. Forcing Tetsuo to watch as they intended to rape her. Luckily for the both of them Kaneda and the rest of "the Capsules" arrived and promptly fought of "the Clowns". Tetsuo felt a sense of relief the intense pain and a voice in his head as his good friend Kaneda was helping him to his feet, he began to berate Kaneda as the voice in his head grew louder, the voice called itself "Akira". But before anyone knew exactly what was happening the military arrived again with a van, in which the cuffed and took away Tetsuo again despite Kaneda's questions and protests.

They took Tetsuo back to the military hospital where the drugged him into a sleep. Tetsuo was disturbed as objects and toys in the room began to grow and come alive. Tetsuo was frightened but felt a new sense of power in his body. Lashing out with his power the objects reverted to the form of the decrepit psychic kids, Tetsuo recognized one of them as the one from the highway. Tetsuo wanted answers and he wanted revenge for the whole situation. The Children disappeared due to the fact that they were only projections of themselves... Tetsuo knew that they were actually elsewhere within the facilities. He used his mental connection to find them in their rooms. Once there he forced information about " Akira" and where he was out of the Children. the Children revealed the location of the lab where Akira was being held. Testuo spared them and headed off in search of Akira.

Along the way to the lab, he stopped at the gang's old hideout and killed the bartender and several members of "the Capsules" leaving only one alive to tell Kaneda what happened, when he would inevitably come looking for him.

Tetsuo finds the lab, and discovers that it's actually a cryo-lab. he had to slaughter several guards to find it. Once inside he found jars filled with organs. the organ filled jars had labels attached that said "Akira". Tetsuo did not quite understand what this meant. Still he took the organs. As he exited the lab, he saw Colonel Shikishima awaiting him. The Colonel pleaded with him to come back to the hospital with him and he would explain everything. Tetsuo was through of being mistreated by everyone and refused the Colonel's pleas. But unknown to the distracted Tetsuo, Kaneda and Kaneda's girl Kei were watching with a Laser Rifle from a distance, Kaneda seized the moment to fire upon Tetsuo, the first blast seared through the flesh of his arm. Tetsuo was able to block the following shots with his energy shield. He lowered his shield to question Kaneda but before he could muster a word, the Colonel to the opportunity to fire on Tetsuo with an Orbital Laser that severe Tetsuo's injured arm. Tetsuo was through with the games, and flew off destroying the Colonel's Orbital Laser in the process.

Tetsuo took refuge in an abandoned baseball stadium to try and find out more about these organs he now had, he also used his powers to merge with objects and form a new arm. The first person to find the angered Tetsuo was his trusted girlfriend Kaori. Kaori managed to calm him a bit. But her efforts were futile once Shikishima, Kei, and Kaneda arrived. Kaneda and tried to reason with Tetsuo but Tetsuo was too hurt by Kaneda's betrayal to hear him out. Kaneda's mere presence angered Tetsuo further. Tetsuo began to lose all control of himself and his powers. Killing Kaori and merging with the Stadium.
The Psychic Children arrived and revealed that saving Tetsuo was hopeless and that they had no choice but o call forth Akira to destroy him. Once they Called forth Akira, Tetsuo and Akira erupted in an explosion that destroyed Neo-Tokyo for the second time.

History

The best friend of the more charismatic Shotaro Kaneda, Tetsuo grew up as something of a runt and stayed that way even as he joined Kaneda's biker gang. Physically underwhelming and meek, he also grew up in an orphanage, the only stable factor in his life being Kaneda. One day, Tetsuo gets into an accident with a child who is also a military test subject and acquires incredible psychic powers. Unfortunately his body is incapable of handling these powers and he becomes completely unhinged, obsessed with killing Shotaro and destroying Neo-Tokyo even as he continues to remain in awe of his best friend.

Personality

Prior to his accident, Tetsuo is meek, shy, and anxious due to his unstable childhood. He also suffers from a severe inferiority complex. Tetsuo's fragile psyche is shattered by his sudden acquisition of psychic powers nearly on par with that of Akira, a god-like figure who destroyed the original Tokyo (probably by accident) with his own powers. As a result, Tetsuo turns on Kaneda and Neo-Tokyo.
