You're probably not familiar with mangaka Ryou Kurashina-- I don't believe any of his works have been published outside of Japan just yet. He's got a particular fascination, generally, with hostesses: one of his best-known works, Jouou, is about a guy who wants to build the world's biggest hostess club and a young woman who has to become a hostess to pay her parents' debt. Then there's MaiHime (not, not THAT Mai-HiME), about a woman whose father owned a chain of hostess clubs, until he lost them all; she becomes a hostess to try and avenge him by rebuying all of his clubs.
And then there's Teiou, the tale of a young man who loses his girlfriend to a guy who is the #1 host at a host club. The man, who will be played by Takashi Tsukamoto (Kisarazu Cat's Eye's “Ani,” Battle Royale Special's Shinji), decides to try and become a host and take over the #1 host's spot. It's reportedly getting made into a live-action drama to air this July.
This is actually the fourth Kurashina manga revolving around hosts or hostesses that was adapted into a live-action drama, so I'm sure it'll be at least as good as the last few-- and they were clearly at least decently popular. Should be interesting.
Has anyone watched any of the past Kurashina dramas, Jotei, Jouou, or Yaou?
