The main protagonist of Speed Grapher. Who has developed the ability to explode whoever and whatever he photographs.
Saiga has had an interest in cameras ever since he was little, thanks to his camera-loving father's influence. Inspired by a book published by a news photographer that he read when he was fifteen years old, he became fascinated by the pictures of photographers working on battlefields and decided he wanted to be just like them.
When he was eighteen and working for the East West News Agency, he was assigned to back up Seijiro Togoshi, and headed into a foreign disputed territory by himself. The pictures he took there garnered attention in an instant. And when Saiga was twenty-five, continuing to cross disputed borders and taking pictures, he received numerous near-death injuries on the battlefield. He was saved by Doctor Genba Ryogoku, who was dispatched to the war zone by the NPO. Because of his medical treatment, Saiga became addicted to drugs. He was in South America, practically living like an invalid, when he was spotted by Togoshi and dragged back to Japan. When he got back, his passport was confiscated. Now he has come to this point, without any purpose or ambition.
He collects cameras, because of his work. If he has free time, he fiddles with a camera. He doesn't really hold onto money that much, and his entire earnings end up going toward camera equipment.
Active and determined once he gets something into his head, but conversely, he can also be calm and objective. He is blunt in both his words and his deeds. He's the kind of person that acts before he thinks. And strangely, for the world, he isn't interested in money. He's a man who wantees to take the single greatest picture in the world.
