Welcome to the Tari Tari discussion thread for Ep. 1-5! Since my partner Auron570, Daniel and I are pretty busy with the wiki work, I decided to do this style of blog. We got plenty of images in the episode galleries for everyone, or you can drop some we haven't uploaded. Please enjoy the discussion. I'll pop by to say hello.

If you guys and gals are up for wiki editing, Auron570, Daniel Newton, and I welcome any help to the page as long as you don't plagiarize.

Other Anime Discussion Threads

Since BigHeart711 and I did the Summer Anime 2012 Trailers Anthology Blog for most of the upcoming summer anime, I got hooked on pretty fast than any other season. Plus, these threads save time and invite discussion.

I'll open all of them by the end of the day.

Let's start this thread off by introducing the five main characters of the show. If I botch their descriptions, feel free to correct me. It's my 2nd Slice of Life and 1st Moe show (if it is a Moe show). I'm an anime fan who usually watches a lot of shonen, battle, harem and reverse harem, some shoujo, and comedy anime series. Rarely, I get to watch other anime series outside of those genre.

He's my partner who I worked with and HalberdierV2 on Gosick, a strange mystery, crime solving anime that blossoms to another genre. I can't spoil y'all for those who haven't tried it. Auron570 is one of Anime Vice's top Slice of Life and romantic wiki editors.

He is renowned for his work on

He's the expert here. You'll probably relate to him more.

I hope you guys and gals enjoy Tari Tari, and we hope to talk with you. We welcome any wiki editors on this project as long as you don't plagiarize.

1. Konatsu Miyamoto

She aspires to be a great singer, and when the Vice Principal tells her to be realistic and give up dream, Konatsu decides to quit the choir and start her own group of singers.

2. Wakana Sakai

Wakana is Konatsu's friend, and she's a quiet girl who focuses on her studies. She finds singing for fun ridiculous.

3. Sawa Okita

Sawa is Konatsu's friend, and she is an outgoing girl who takes part in archery and horseback riding.

4. Taichi Tanaka

Taichi is the sports guy who can also sing well. He enjoys bicycling and badminton.

5. Atsuhiro Maeda

Atsuhiro is a transfer student from Vienna, Austria. He is getting accustomed to the Japanese culture and language. Taichi is his tour guide.

@takashichea: Thanks for the over-the-top introduction >.> I'm almost blushing.

So I guess I'll share some of my thoughts about the character development so far. :P

There are a lot of ways that the characters could develop. Since it's still early, it feels like the main characters are separated into two groups, the girls and the guys. I really wonder how Atsuhiro and Taichi are going to be integrated into the larger story, if at all. It's cute to see Atsuhiro fumble and make earnest mistakes about Japanese customs, but I'm still not sure how he fits in to things, or if this is just going to be a running gag. =\

The girls are all interesting in their own way. Sawa would probably do anything for Konatsu, her best friend. Konatsu is a dreamer who is trying her best. And for Wakana, there have been small hints here and there about her past with music and singing. I'm a little worried that the 13 episode length of this series (last I checked) won't give all the characters enough time to shine, but only time will tell. :)

@AURON570:

No problem. I hope Atsuhiro and Taichi get some spotlight, but I have a feeling that they will serve as supporting characters and side stories. The three girls are going to be center of attention.

"I don't want to regret giving up before I even tried!"

By Konatsu

So far, I liked Konatsu the most.

Edit:

I wonder if Atsuhiro can sing. I haven't watch Ep. 3 yet.

I may have to check this one out if Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero doesn't pan out.

Well looks like my hunch was right about the guys being tied into things somehow. Makes me feel a little warm and fuzzy inside seeing the characters come together in a new choir-badminton club xD. I started feeling some similarities to Chihayafuru, as Chihaya also had trouble recruiting club members for karuta. It doesn't help that Konatsu is also voiced by the same actress that voiced Chihaya. :\

Also, Taichi has his dream about being a pro badminton player, while Konatsu wants to be a professional singer. This had me wondering whether Sawa has some sort of dream of being a professional horse rider, or horse.. something. I wouldn't be surprised, since they've been showing Sawa riding her horse pretty consistently, but whenever Sawa is with her friends, she is only interested in helping others.

I want to know what happened to Wakana's mother. I'm starting to love the show, but I have overcome the mundane everyday life.

Spoilers for those who haven't watch Ep. 5 yet.

Episode 5 is pretty the saddest episode so far in the series.

Mahiru and her little daughter
Mahiru and her little daughter

Wakana is so focused in her studies that she neglects her mother. She often rejects and yells at her mom who wanted to sing with Wakana. All the things that Mahiru did for Wakana, Wakana would not smile or say thank you to her mom. In the end, Wakan learns that her mom just wanted to hear her daughter sing, but it was too late when she died. Wakana regrets being to her mother since that day. It was like a life lesson, Carpe Diem.

Carpe Diem - To Live Life to Fullest

Wakana does not even participate in extracurricular activities. She often declined her friends' invitations to parties.

It reminds me of Our Town, a play that revolves around Carpe Diem.

This is such a relaxing anime to watch. Quite a break after watching anime that has major action in it. I admire how Miyamoto doesn't give up and continues to pursue her dreams even though others may put her down. She had an embarrassing moment a year prior to the anime yet was so determined to surpass it by singing. I find her singing voice to be extremely beautiful. She sounds like an angel. Her or Sakai would have to be my favorite characters but can't decide which one.

@Samimista:

Oh hey, welcome to the Tari Tari discussion thread! I liked Konatsu and Atsuhiro the most so far.

I believe you already met @AURON570

I haven't watch episode 6 or 7 yet. I better catch up. Hope to see you guys making noise in this discussion.

Edit:

I agree about how the singing in the show is beautiful in the show.

@takashichea: Sorry for the late reply, got busy yesterday. ^___^' Tomorrow I have the day free so I can catch up with all Tari Tari. =D Now are the episodes released weekly? I wonder how long it'll air for.~

Konatsu is very beautiful. Gotta love how she stays strong and keeps getting back up when someone knocks her down. Atsuhiro is just too funny with that guide he carries around. He seems very interesting. He reminds me of Kyon from Haruhi for some reason.~

@takashichea: That's very kind of you but no thanks. ^_______^ And wow, I remember when that site was completely free. xD Glad it got successful though. So every Sunday it airs. Gotta keep that in mind.~ I hope the opening stays for awhile. It's just so beautiful to watch.

@Samimista:

On Wikipedia and Anime News Network, it's 13 episodes.

@Samimista:

Hope you enjoy the show. I find 13 episodes short, but I haven't seen Slice of Life shows like these before. It's going be a new experience for me.

Post by Samimista (178 posts) See mini bio Level 12

@takashichea: For the current opening or is that how many episodes for the season?

EDIT: Just saw your second reply. Ah, so it's for the whole show. That really is short. I wonder if it's for the season or not. Oh! Slice of Life shows can be good. Just depends on the one you watch. I gotta dig some up to recommend for you.

@Samimista:

I guess it's for this season until they announce that they are going to air another season of episodes. If either Auron570 or myself see some new Tari Tari news articles, we'll inform you.

Post by Samimista (178 posts) See mini bio Level 12

@takashichea: That would make sense. I can't see the series only being 13 episodes forever with the characters stories. Plus I'm sure in no time fans would demand for more episodes. Thanks guys. ^______^ I'll try keeping informed too so we can tell others who are new to the anime and such that come on the thread.~

They did a great job with Wakana and her mother's story in episode 6. Can't wait to see more. :)

Go Go Power Rangers!
Go Go Power Rangers!

Episode 9 is pretty cool, and I love how it opens up more about Atsuhiro's origin story. Who is a fan of Sentai/Power Rangers? I remember watching them back in the old days.

Ride on Sawa!
Ride on Sawa!

Sawa's story in episode 7 and 8 is awesome as well. Sawa's dream job is horseback riding and racing, but her father wants her to have a serious career. It kind of relates to me when I wanted to design video games, but my parents didn't think it was a stable career. Unlike Sawa, I drop the idea and search for another calling.

Here are some official art from Megami and Nyantype magazines.
