Tao Ran

Overview

Specifically, Tao Ran is a necromancer like Jun Tao and Faust the VIII because of her spirit allies/ zombies (spirit mediums). She is the daughter of Tao Ching and the husband of Tao Yuan, and she is the mother of Ren Tao and Jun Tao.

Creation

Tao Ran, who is created by Hiroyuki Takei, has no current information on what inspires the author to create her.

Story Arc

Journey to China (Rescue of Ren Tao)

She and Tao Ching stops Tao Yuan's battle with Ren Tao. She invites Yoh's friends to have dinner with them and she, as a joke, tells them that poisoned food is their specialty.

Back to Tokyo for the First Tournament Event

She watches Ren's first match with Team Tsuchi Gumi (Earth). In another scene, she, Tao Ching, and Tao Yuan meet Mikihisa Asakura and Keiko Asakura for a talk about the young shamans and Hao Asakura.

Anime and Manga Differences

The anime cuts out the scenes where Ren leaves the Tao family and Yoh and friend's comedic scenes before they depart for Tokyo.
In the anime, she appears earlier and asks Tao Yuan to stop torturing her children.

Sub and Dub Differences

In the dub version, Tao Yuan is known as Uncle En which makes Tao Ran the aunt of Jun Tao and Ren Tao.
