He is the main character in The IGPX series. He is the lead pilot of Team Satomi.
Takeshi Jin was born in Japan in the year 2034 and grew up with the Immortal Grand Prix as a major fan. As he grew older, his main inspiration and idol in the racing circuits was the enigmatic racer simply labeled Rocket G. He got into racing in the Immortal Grand Prix himself with the support of his parents and sister, Yuri Jin. Because of the skills he demonstrated on the racetrack, he was drafted on to Team Satomi by Michiru Satomi at an early age along with Liz Ricarro, Amy Stapleton, and Luca to play the position of forward. Takeshi and the team quickly rose up through the IG-3 and IG-2 brackets to become the rookie team in the IG-1 for the 2049 season.
He is shown also to have an affinity for practicing kendo and walking around on the empty race track, things that he shares with Alexander Cunningham Hume as interests. He also relaxes by playing a hand held video game called Watch World where he communicates with friends at times or plays by himself.
Takeshi Jin was originally Takeshi Noa and created by Koichi Mashimo for the original microseries. For the anime, he was created by Mitsuru Hongo and given a face lift to the character he is today. Even though he is Japanese, he was given American looks and an American voice actor. He appears in episode 1 of both the IGPX microseries and the IGPX anime. He is voiced by Kozo Mito in the Japanese version and Haley Joel Osment in the English version.
In the beginning of the series, Takeshi tended to focus solely on winning as opposed to working with Liz and Amy to win as a team. He figured that he was simply a skilled pilot and could succeed no matter what since he was much better at actual racing as opposed to the simulations that they held to practice. After most races, Liz would often scold him for being so careless of not cooperating with them in order to actually win a race in a decent manner. Takeshi tries not to let it get to him since he feels that if he comes in first, nothing else matters. It is also at this time that he begins to date Fantine Valjean, the French forward for Team Skylark. After the two date for a while, Fantine realizes that they are more friendly rivals than actual lovers and they break up in season two.
As time goes on, Takeshi realizes that simply gunning for the first place spot is not always the best course of actions as each of the challenges that the 2049 and 2050 IGPX seasons offer are things he can not do on his own. It is also through this revelation that he finds out he actually has feelings for Liz and becomes closer with her as time goes on. By the time they win the 2050 season, Takeshi understand what it means to be on a three person team and works with Liz and Amy in order to win. However, he still can be a bit of an annoying guy at times with his attitude.
