Sugou was one hell of creepy villain. Such a perv. So glad that Kirito kicked his butt. Sure it kinda felt like a deus ex machina, in the way that it happened but still Sugou got what he deserved. One question though. Since Kirito reset the pain absorbers to level 0 before and Sugou said that below level 3 would affect their physical bodies, does this mean that Kirito could have possibly killed him? Οhh well, I guess we will know in the next episode. And just one episode left. Although I imagine they are going to adapt the rest of it at some point.

Sugou's rant made him a better and funnier villain than Kayaba. When Kayaba came in and Kirito thank him, I still don't know why the creator potrayed Kayaba as the good guy. The guy caused the death of hundreds for a stupid goal of creating his own virtual world.

While by no means, I am not saying that Kayaba was a good guy or anything, at least he didn't try to rape other players in the game and in RL nor he wanted to rule the world. Sure what he did was bad as well but at least his motives were somewhat better.

@ComicMan24:

Even though the episode made me cringe when he violates Asuna and threatens to rape her in the real world, Sugou's acting and facial expressions were entertaining. Kayaba was a boring villain to me.

I hated him the second he put on his snake smile on his first appearance.

@takashichea: At least when he fought Kirito (the second time), he was being more fair than Sugou. Sugou was just a creep.

@ComicMan24:

I agree with that. I shouldn't have say Sugou was better than Kayaba. Even though Petiew says Kirito had less ten seconds left in Kayaba's battle, both battles had Deus Ex Machina. The ending of the first season wasn't that great. I find Kayaba's fight with Kirito less satisfying than Kirito's last confrontations with Sugou. There was not much hate for Kayaba than Sugou, and when Kirito finishes off Sugou, it felt good.

...

I hope this series gets a good ending especially with this season. I didn't like this season except for the Sugu love thing. It lack the action and ever looming danger of being killed like the first season had. I don't know why they rushed things. They barely show the minor characters: Klein, Egil, Lisbeth, and Silica, and the whole romance thing between Asuna and Kirito was rushed.

Interestingly, I look at the swords, and I think you say that the first season was about Kirito and Asuna while the second season's focus was on Kirito and Suguha.

Season 1: Kirito and Asuna
Season 1: Kirito and Asuna
Season 2: Kirito and Suguha
Season 2: Kirito and Suguha

@takashichea: You know, Kayaba's fight with Kirito felt unsatisfying because it happened all of a sudden. There was no build-up to it. They were fighting that Boss, they defeated it, Kirito suddenly realized the truth about Heathcliff and the fight started. Unlike with Sugou where a some build-up was created, he was going to rescue Asuna, and he knew that he would face him sooner or later. IMO the second half of the show, had much better pacing than the first. The first felt so rushed at times, especially towards its finale.

As for the pics, it was the first thought that came to mind when I saw the second.

Just read the first manga. Be interesting to see if they create a season 2. Bring more of the other characters back for another adventure.

@Supreme Marvel:

I was told Wikia editors to stay away from the manga since the artwork was horrible. Was it the Aincrad story you read? I should get started reading it to do its wiki article, and plus, we get some manga discussion rolling. I don't know how different the anime and manga are. All I heard so far is light novel differences from Sword Art Online Wikia. I can't put down what they say since I have to do the work myself.

@takashichea: The start is the battle when Kirito battles with Asuna against that demon boss which Kirito used his dual-weapon move. Then it goes to 2 years before where you have Kirito teaching that guy at the beginning of the series. So it all looks the same.

The art isn't that bad. I've seen worse in animé.

Well, most likely there is going to be. From what I know there is plenty of material to be adapted like the GunGale and the Underworld arcs and I imagine that the anime was successfull enough.

@Supreme Marvel: If you're interested in following the rest of the story check out the light novels instead of the manga.

Haven't got around to watching the recent episode yet! Felt the second game was kind of weaker than the first. Which one did you guys prefer?

@Petiew: I'm not really into the fantasy elemental of MMORPG. I like the Skyrim style ones. Not fairies and things alike.

However, I've always wanted a Pokemon MMORPG. I'd spend the rest of my days on that

Looks like Sword art online is now finished. Episode 25 : World seed is out now so what are you guys waiting for, Watch it! The episode was well written including seeing their real world counterparts meet each other. Now that's its finished what do you guys think were the most epic episodes and episodes that were hard to catch-up on during the whole SAO fever. And gotta admit the credits were awesome seeing those flashbacks gave me chills

Post by ComicMan24 (8,759 posts) See mini bio Level 12

There goes SAO. It was a nice episode. Pretty much happened what I thought it would. And finally those two got to meet in the real world. It took them only 24 episodes to do that lol And Sugou was such a bastard. I knew that since he didn't die in the previous episode, that he would try something like this in the RL.But to think that he lost to a little kid that still hadn't recovered completely from being two years in SAO, shows how lame he really is lol (granted he was shown to be suffering from Kirito's attack in the previous). And I think everybody could tell that Kirito wasn't going to kill him. But it sure scared the hell otu of him lol

It was nice seeing characters from before like Lizbeth and Klein return for this episode, since only Agil was shown so far in ALO. And the whole Seed thing was quite interesting.

Generally, SAO was a nice anime. Sure it had its problems but it was still enjoyable. While the first half of the show had themes that interested me more, I think I enjoyed the second half more since it had better pacing and I admit I enjoy fantasy settings somewhat more. I wish they would just call it a harem anime because it was so much one lol. Pretty much all female characters that could (and some that couldn't) developed feelings for Kirito. At least the fanservice here was minimal.

Thank you guys and gals for getting revved up in the discussion.

You make the experience all so enjoyable. I'm looking forward to another great discussion on another anime series in the near future.

Farewell to Sword Art Online
Farewell to Sword Art Online

I almost forgot about this series after Btooom ended. Like everyone and I said, first arc was way better than the first one in action and story, but the characters's relationships are shallow and rushed. Asuna and Kirito's romance felt superficial. Whereas for the Suguha and Kirito, the relationship is more explored, and it had more drama in it. Given the series popularity, it has a high chance of continuing a second season.

Sword Art Online's two main heroines
Sword Art Online's two main heroines

The last episode is split into Asuna (first part) and Suguha (second part). You got the kissing scene for Asuna and the dancing part for the Suguha. I felt bad for Lisbeth and Silica. They were shown, but they were left out in the dust. It's sad for fans who ship those two. Speaking of Silica and Lisbeth, Klein and Egil also didn't have a lot spotlight. For some odd reason, I look more forward to seeing them in action more than Kirito and Asuna. Love the part where Kirito overpower Sugou, and it was a thrilling, adrenaline rush when you see Kirito stop himself from slitting Sugou's throat.

NOT SEEN THE FINALE YET. I CANT READ YOUR MESSAGE!!!!! BEEN OUT ALL DAYYYYY.

I kinda stopped caring about this show once it got to ALO part. Still don't believe the romance between Kirito and Asuna, and all that drama and deus ex machina

What I really want to see is a side story dedicated to Klein finally getting that pizza he ordered back in episode 1 because that was the real tragedy in SAO

SAO sold really well in Japan so we'll likely see

GGO animated and another girl get added to his harem

@takashichea: Lol thanks for spoiling it, xD lol j/king. Sounds like a pretty typical ending. I'm probably still gonna see it through, but for the past few episodes I've been kind of like "meh, I just want to get this series over with."
