He later joined the Britannian Army and became an Honorary Britannian, hoping to make his way up the ranks and gain power to help Japan, now called Area 11. Instead he ran into Lelouch, who was accused of being a terrorist, and Suzaku's superior officer ordered him to shoot Lelouch. Suzaku refused and was shot in the back, but survived thanks to his father's pocket watch, which he carried with him. Afterwards he was drafted by the Britannian Army's Research and Development team, helmed by Lloyd and Cecile, where he became the pilot of the Lancelot.
He nearly lost his position as pilot of the Lancelot at one point, but was saved from that fate by Princess Euphemia, another of Lelouch's half-siblings. Euphemia asked Suzaku to become her personal knight, which he did. The two may have had romantic feelings for each other, but Euphemia was accidentally Geassed by Lelouch into killing all elevens when Lelouch lost control of his power. As such, Lelouch was forced to kill Euphemia, and at that point Suzaku ceased being as kind a soul as he had been.
At the end of the first season of Code Geass, Suzaku learns that Zero is in fact Lelouch, and the two have a showdown. In the interim between the seasons, Suzaku effectively sells Lelouch to the Emperor of Britannia in exchange for becoming a Knight of the Rounds. He hopes to earn the top rank, Knight of One, who is given the ability to choose a Britannian colony to rule-- and of course, he intends to choose Area 11. Lelouch's memories were altered and he was returned to Britannia in hopes of drawing out C.C. When the possibility arose that Lelouch's memories had returned, Lelouch was returned to Britannia as well, to determine whether this was the case and to keep an eye on him. Suzaku has told the emperor that he, and no one else, will be the one to kill Lelouch.
In the second season, Suzaku has become rather cold and bitter, and still desires the death of Lelouch if he shows any sign of resuming his activities as Zero. When Lelouch does succeed at escaping, Suzaku remains a constant thorn in his side until the point where Lelouch confronts Charles di Britannia. At this point Suzaku strikes a deal with Lelouch, and aids him in everything-- right up through the point where Lelouch hosts a parade in celebration of the execution of the Black Knights, when Suzaku (dressed as Zero) kills Lelouch. This final sacrifice on both men's parts was the final step in Lelouch's plan to unite the world against one villain: himself.
Meme - Spinzaku
During the 2nd episode of the 2nd season Lelouch remembers how Suzaku dis-armed and overpowered him. He does this by doing a leaping, spinning kick after shooting Lelouch's gun from his
hand.
The leaping kick was so outlandish it spawned a meme, called Spinzaku, where the flying kick was photoshopped in any picture that suited, and it still used today.

A teenage mech pilot, formerly Japanese and now an Honorary Britannian.
History
Suzaku was the son of the Prime Minister of Japan during Britannia's takeover. During his childhood he met and became friends with Lelouch, who had already rejected the royal family of Britannia. Shortly after the invasion of Japan, Suzaku was horrified when his father refused to surrender to Britannia, resulting in more Japanese deaths. Suzaku then murdered his father for the sake of Japan. Personality
Suzaku is instinctively a kind, caring person who wants nothing more than to restore Area 11 to its rightful place as Japan. He is perhaps somewhat naïve, and occasionally seems to have a death wish in terms of who he trusts and to do what. After the death of Euphemia, he becomes much more cold and enraged at Lelouch. Thus far in season two, he has shown almost no emotion other than anger and hatred towards Zero/Lelouch…except when he returns to Ashford Academy and has to pretend to still know Lelouch as a childhood friend.Meme - Spinzaku
