I don't mean that in the sense of colorful language-- I mean, literally, Sunrise has announced a new anime movie based on the novel Colorful. The film is going to be directed by Keiichi Hara, of Crayon Shin-chan fame. The novel was written by Eto Mori, who also created the 2007 manga Dive!!, and was also already released as a live-action flick in 2000.

The story revolves around a protagonist who gets caught up in a cycle of death and rebirth thanks to winning a shot at a new life while in the afterlife. Unfortunately, their new body is a suicidal 14-year-old boy. For all that, it's supposed to be more light comedy than dark drama.

The flick is due out in 2010, and I'm definitely interested. How about you?

... sounds interesting. But I can't see how this is a comedy rather than some "angsting" thing.
