Part of the Decepticons who is the Most powerful of the Seekers. Starscream is usually the scheming second in command to Megatron. Ultimately joined the Autobots in the Armada continuity. In the Prime series he is described as dead to the Decepticon cause by Megatron, but has really gone rogue.
Starscream is an ex-scientist who became disillusioned and resentful after the loss of his best friend, joining the ranks of the Decepticons and quickly making a name for himself, he rose in the ranks becoming supreme commander of the Decepticon Air Force known as the Seekers. Starscream soon grew to despise the leader of the Decepticons, Megatron, viewing him as self-serving and incompetent, Starscream began to plot against Megatron, keeping an eye out for other Decepticons who may feel the same way, Starscream began a personal quest to take over the Decepticons as his own.
But unfortunately for Starscream, Megatron was all too aware of his ambitions, and only tolerated the Seeker commander because he saw him as useful, this changed however after Megatron was rebuilt by Unicron into Galvatron, at which point he personally destroyed Starscream for his constant treachery.
It was discovered though, that there was truly more then meets the eye when it came to Starscream however, as he possessed an immortal spark, and his ghost began to plague the Autobots and Decepticons alike from time to time, even travelling back in time to a point during the Beast Wars on primitive Earth and taking possession of the body of the Predacon named Waspinator, and quickly began plotting against that generation of Transformers Megatron much as he did before, though his spark was ultimately forced out of Waspinator's body and his spark travelled back into space, vowing revenge.
Returning to his own time, Starscream's ghost makes a deal with Unicron, he will help restore the planet eater in exchange for a new body, Unicron agrees to the term and though at first Starscream had to take possession of Scourge's body to do Unicron's bidding, a situation arose that forced Unicron to restore Starscream's body ahead of schedule, and Starscream promptly left the world eater's head to be destroyed by the Autobots. taking his new body and setting out on his own.
Starscream was created by Hasbro and Takara Tomy, who also created the "Transformers" franchise. Starscream is voiced by many actors, Chris Latta (English) as well as Hirotaka Suzuoki and a few others in Beast Wars, Beast Wars II, Beast Wars Neo, Armada, Energon,Cybertron, and Animated. Steve Blum is the current voice of Starscream in Transformers Prime
Starscream was one of the top members of the Predacons, serving under the brothers Galvatron and Megastorm, Starscream was a bigger threat to his fellow Predacons then the Maximals as it turned out however, he planned to kill any Predacon who outranked him or were a possible threat to him rising to power. But during a fight with the Maximals Starscream was defeated, and then asked the Maximals if he could defect to their ranks, unbeknownst to him, however, Megastorm (now Gigastorm) had a vast amount of explosives in the area and had been watching the battle from afar, outraged by Starscream's act of treason, he detonated the bombs, and in the ensuing explosion that followed Starscream and another Predacon named BB were knocked into a pit of angolmois, and were presumed to be dead as a result, but the pair would later resurface, BB now Max-B, and Starscream, now a robot shark, as Hellscream. In the final battle against the Maximals, Hellscream after taking a savage beating from the Maximals named Bighorn and Diver, retreats leaving Galvatron to finish the fight on his own, and is not seen again until the end of Beast Wars Neo where he was one of the Maximal and Predacon members who fought against Unicron.
After arriving on Earth, Megatron began to race against the Autobots in an effort to acquire possession of the mini-cons, which could then link to Megatron and his soldiers and make them more and more powerful, Starscream however had been intentionally excluded from receiving a mini-con, as Megatron did not trust him at all. This in turn greatly angered Starscream, and during a mission Starscream recovered and activated the mini-con named Swindle on the spot, rather then bringing it to Megatron first. Sideways saw Starscreams resentful attitude towards Megatron and used it to undermine the Decepticons and cause infighting and treason within their ranks, even going so far as to instigate Starscream into fighting Megatron over leadership of the Decepticons. Starscream lost and Megatron forced the Seeker to bow before him.
Starscream has been humiliated and wishes to regain his honor and self respect, Thrust uses this as an opportunity to use Starscream as the fall guy in a plot to steal the Requiem Blaster from the Autobots. Presuming (correctly) that the Autobots will not take the blaster into battle for fear of it's destructive power, Thrust gives Starscream the Star Saber, and sends him into battle along with the backing of the Decepticons, but at the start of the battle the rest of the evil robots simply leave Starscream to take on every Autobot single-handedly, using him as a distraction while they infiltrate the Autobot's empty base and steal the weapon, they are successful, but Starscream of course is not, but still manages to escape with the sword still in hand.
But upon returning to the Decepticon's moon base, Starscream uses the sword to go on a rampage, attacking several Decepticons and damaging lots of equipment before leaving to join the Autobots.
Starscream's defection is not believed by some of the Autobots, while Scavenger welcomes him to the team, Hot Shot is openly hostile towards the newcomer, and very verbal in his opposition of allowing a former Decepticon into their ranks, but Optimus Prime ultimately has the final say, and decides to accept Starscream into the Autobots. While an Autobot Starscream became very popular among the human children who had befriended the Autobots, and in turn he was very kind to them as well, he especially became friends with Alexis in particular. In time even Hot Shot considered Starscream a proven ally and trusted friend.
For a time it seemed Starscream had truly changed his ways, which made it all the more shocking when he stole the Skyboom Shield, taking it along with the Star Saber back to the Decepticons and handing the weapons over to Megatron, who in turn combined the three powerful weapons into their ultimate form. But Starscream had in fact changed, he felt true friendship towards the Autobots and would often help them in battle while fighting against them, by making seemingly stupid mistakes on purpose to foil another Decepticons attack against an Autobot. Ultimately the good in Starscream came to the surface in full when he sacrificed his own life in a battle against Galvatron, shooting at Unicron who in turn obliterated Starscream and showed the true threat of Unicron to all, leading to the Autobots and Decepticons joining forces to battle Unicron and his minions rather then one another. Starscream seemed to meet his demise as a hero, a martyr, and an Autobot.
