Back to Gajeel and Levy, Yomazu unleashes a deafening script that blocks Gajeel and Levy's hearing while Kawazu strikes them from behind. In the nick of time, Levy pulls Gajeel to safety. Kawazu unleashes a barrage of eggs on them; Yomazu attacks Gajeel. Levy destroys Yomazu's script with her script magic. After Gajeel punches Yomazu, Levy and Kawazu battle. Yomazu sends slashing scripts at Gajeel; Kawazu lands a hit on Levy with an attack from the top. Suddenly, Gajeel gets distracted with Levy getting attacked which Yomazu delivers a critical attack as he stabs Gajeel's side of his abdomen. Gajeel tells Levy to leave and warn Fairy Tail; before Levy leaves, she uses her magic to create an iron script for Gajeel. As Gajeel wolfs down the iron, he slams his fist into the floor and intimidates his opponent. Meanwhile, Levy trips and falls down unconscious. Back to Gajeel, he uses his Roar of the Dragon at Yomazu; when Yomazu blocks it, Kawazu bombards him with Heavy Egg Rain. Gajeel knocks Yomazu away and defeats Kawazu. Immediately, Yomazu stabs Gajeel's pillar arm. Later, Erza and Juvia find Levy on the ground. In Gajeel's battle, Gajeel remembers his battle with Fairy Tail, specifically Natsu.

Makarov's second chance
Makarov's second chance

In the flashback, Gajeel is eating some scrap iron when Makarov greets him. Makarov informs Gajeel that Juvia has joined his guild and that she is worried about Gajeel. He asks Gajeel what he would do now and what was he thinking of picking a fight with his guild. Also, Makarov asks Gajeel what does Phantom Guild mean to him and if he is willing to follow orders to take lives. Out of nowhere, Makarov asks Gajeel if he wants to join his guild; when Gajeel reminds him of what he did to Shadow Gear, Makarov tells Gajeel that he will never forgive him for that. However, Makarov will not forgive himself if he lets Gajeel drift into darkness. Back to present, Gajeel grabs and snaps the katana with his hand. He chews up the katana and prepares to summon his Karma Demon: Iron God sword. Gajeel defeats Yomazu and collapses on the ground. Levy, Juvia, and Erza arrive later. After Gajeel reassures Levy, Yomazu laughs and tells Fairy Tail about the Seven Kin of Purgatory while Erza shoots a emergency flare into the sky. As the Fairy Tail members see the flare, Cana expresses that she cannot stop from her goals with Lucy looking worried about Cana, but Gray and Loke informs her that they have to stop the exam. Levy takes Gajeel back to camp; Juvia longs to meet Gray. Erza beats Yomazu on the head to interrogate him. Yomazu replies that his guild is searching for Zeref who indeed alive. At first, Erza doesn't believe it; Yomazu warns her about the Seven Kin of Purgatory.

At the mountain, Wendy asks Mest about the flare, but Mest starts biting the rock. As Mest tries to think of what to do, Charle and Pantherlily arrive. Pantherlily smashes the rock and asks Mest about his true identity.
