Witch hazel, random police tape and arousal-induced nosebleeds. It doesn't get any zanier than this.

Ronald Reagan must’ve been on to something with all that talk about the “silent majority.” When I watched the first episode of this show, almost everybody who commented in the talkback said, “Don’t pick this up! It wouldn’t make a good series to follow.” Yet when it came time for everybody to actually vote, SOUL EATER was the one that came out on top. Words and deeds, right? Of course, the irony is that there’s actually only four episodes of this online, anyway. I guess the DVD must’ve come out recently. I wasn’t aware of that when I set the poll up because there were far too many shows on the docket to investigate every one individually, but there you go. Once I get to episode #4 of this, expect the runner-up to get picked up. I guess that means the poll is still open.

The more of these watch, the more I realize that I get more enthused about a show where the fantasia’s as total as it here. It can be serious at times, sure. There’s no problem with that. Just don’t set it in some drab locations and have the characters speak in such grave, hushed tones the whole time (alluding to GUNSLINGER and PHANTOM, of course.) In this case, the kids actually seem, at times, like they just stepped out of NARUTO, but I don’t have any problems with that because the entire world is so off-the-wall. Like the whole 100 sword trick the bad guy pulls. By acknowledging how ridiculous it is and having some fun with it, it actually ends up even more badass than it would’ve been if they’d just played it straight. Having Capone’s goons randomly wear masks was a brilliant flourish, too.

Introducing the cast, one pair at a time, is an interesting approach to setting up a show. While I’m all for starting things quickly, I’d say this is a better alternative to cramming too much into the first episode. A lot of pilots have buckled under the weight of too much material. This couple swaps genders with the last one, and the reaper-to-weapon dynamic seems flipped too. Cool. Let’s see what happens when the next guy has two partners.

Also, do the souls seem sperm-like in design to anybody else? White balls little curly tails? Seems like a visual innuendo.

Watch this episode "I Am the Star - -The Big Man is Showing Up Here?" below, decide for yourself and then read my comments on the previous episode here.

There just isn't enough interesting about Soul Eater that makes me want to discuss it, but out of all the series in the list for voting everything else is less appealing to me. Possibly Hayate the Combat Butler. My true vote is still for Sgt Frog.

I looked at the poll recently, and all I have to say is people are just downright irrational some times.  It irks me to think if our nation allowed for direct voting of the President; we'd be doomed by this point, if we made it to this point in our country's lifeline.

Also, this series has had only 4 episodes up for a while and for the same reason you guessed, Tom: Funimation wants your money for this show.  Regardless, you better be willing to wait it out with this show; this series is about 50 episodes long, and with a lackluster finale, at that.  It not up to Brotherhood quality, either.  In comparison, Mushi-shi is about 20 episodes long; even still, something like Time of Eve is 6 episodes long.

This is what bones did between the original fma and brotherhood, and it shows.  Still that sence of humor works really well here, this show is insane but in a good way

You know you can watch monster by yourself and also it better to get the short anime out of the way (also best for last)

Soul Eater is one of my favorite anime/manga, so many characters I like and a pretty cool story to boot (They did have all 50 episodes online, I guess they want to push the DVDs)

sigh steins gate is such a better show than this...but I'll watch it with you...if you insist...sigh...don't really need another show to watch though..sigh...

and yes the souls are sperm like...at the one con I went to in Charlotte they did a win loose or draw type thing for anime...the clue was soul eater...the girl drew what to me looked like sperm..(didn't even get to put a face on it like they have here) and her friend immeadiltly knew it was soul eater.  Was the first time I ever saw to people so close they actually DID look like they shared a brain... ..... ///

It was pretty disturbing.

I didn't vote for it, but Soul Eater is nowhere near as bad as the replies are making it seem. It's long as hell (why I didn't vote for it) but it's not bad. Also, you can watch the whole series on Netflix if you have it.

As far as the episode, I enjoyed the way the introduced them. They're basically explaining everything you need to know about them now in these cool little one-shots. Once the actual story of the series starts, it kicks into high gear and doesn't really slow down. If they had to introduce these pairs over time and while telling the main story, I think it'd take a lot more than 3 episodes for me to know them as well as I did after watching their intro episodes.

Exactly. That's how I finished the series. Soul Eater is fun-as I've stated before-but I don't see much in terms of W&L criteria.

This is a good show, but I am not a big fan of Black Star. Though I do like Tsubaki. I just find Black Star to be an annoyingly extreme version of Naruto. I do really like the next episode.

I just don't like how this series follows the manga then makes up a different end after a while.

The manga is split up like this too.  Chapter one is split into 1a, 1b and 1c, each about the size of a normal chapter, and they made each part into its own episode.  Chapter 1 is over 150 pages long.

I LOVE Soul Eater, but I much pretty lost interest in the anime in the mid-late 30's, and just read the manga instead.  My sister went ahead and finished the show, but she wasn't too pleased with the ending (she's never read the manga).

It's still a shame if that's enough deterrent to stop you from watching a show. All of the shows I support and buy I watched a majority first either on tv or online, and I don't see the difference between them.
