Soichiro Takagi is a politically powerful and intimidating man. He first looks he appears to be an emotionless pragmatist, but he holds strong sense of duty and friendship. A man who holds a strong sense of honor, and a believer that as the world has changed so must it's people if they wish to survive. He's a man of few words, but has a sense of charm that swept Yuriko of her feet that she agreed to marry him after knowing him for only a day. He values people of strong wills and determination to do what they feel is right. He was taught in the way of the sword by the father of Saeko Busujima, and gave her a magnificently crafted sword from the Meiji Era as gratitude to both her protection of her daughter and to Saeko's father for his teachings. The power of his ultra-nationalist group has even been compared to the influence of yakuza.
Later at the estate of his family, he was forced to let his daughter flee with her friends after they were overwhelmed by Them. He stood with his wife to defend their home. His fate in this stand is unknown.
Soichiro arrived back at the Takagi Estate after a rescue mission, but one of his retainers who has also been a friend of his for over twenty years had been bitten and changed. Rather than put him out of his misery there, he was put in a cage and brought back for a demonstration. He had all the survivors taking shelter on his land brought together to witness. He told the crowd of Tetsutarou's bravery. How he was bitten in the line of duty of saving his own friends, and that this man was also once a dear friend of his. Though, he also wanted them to understand that his friend was no longer alive. As a duty of their friendship, he was going to do what needed to be done. He had one of his men unlock the cage holding Testutarou. His undead friend lunged at Soichiro, and he sliced off his head with a single blow of his katana. This was to make the people understand the risks that this new world had to offer. If you wanted to survive you'd have to fight and be ready to fight those you held dear in life.
A disturbance on the grounds came to Soichiro's attention later in the day as his men were trying to take the guns from a friend of his daughter, Kohta Hirano. He was refusing to hand over his weapons, so Soichiro asked him his name and what he needed those weapons so badly for. That was when Takashi Komuro, a friend of his daughter since kindergarten, appeared and told him that Kohta has been using those weapons to defend his daughter. Saya and the rest of her allies gathered around Kohta to defend him. She told him how Kohta was the one who protected her during this chaos, unlike him.
Soichiro has also been hearing that the survivors in the camps were becoming restless after his demonstration. They were refusing to see reality and thought they could rationalize with his undead threat. He ask his daughter to try and defuse the situation. He knew any of his group could only inflame tensions, but Saya's intellect could possibly get through to them. Kohta and Takashi volunteered to escort her.
While Saya agreed to speak to them, he had Saeko Busujima meet with him in his practice dojo. He had her look an ancient katana from the Meiji Era. She knew from the craftsmanship that the sword was the Murata-tou. After she thanked him for letting her examine such a prominent sword and he surprised her when he said he was giving her that sword. She was shocked and said she couldn't accept such a generous gift without cause. He first said it was out of gratitude to her father for his tutelage in the past, but she said that he should then save this for her father. He couldn't help but laugh at the blunt honestly that Saeko and her father shared. The second reason was for protecting his daughter, be once more Saeko said that she wasn't the only one who has protected Saya and he also owes her live to his child. When Saeko suggested giving the sword to their leader, Takashi, Soichiro agreed that Takashi had grown into a fine man but as a leader he was still flawed. He said that Takashi was still hesitating in that role, and reluctantly Saeko agreed.
Takashi came to see Soichiro to tell him that he and Rei Miyamoto were planning to leave to go in search of their families. Soichiro told them that he was planning to evacuate the estate in two days and had no plans to return. When he asked what Takashi would do, the young man said they would be back before then. Later in that day, word reached him that the son of one of his more tenuous enemies in the political world had approached the estate for shelter with his students. By the time he reached the entrance, he found Rei holding Koichi Shidou at gunpoint. Has a teacher he had done his father's bidding to humiliate Rei's father for his corruption investigation y manipulating her grade to force her to repeat a grade. Soichiro entered to conversation to test Rei's resolve. He told her that if it was her will to get revenge to go ahead and kill him. He even admitted that he'd would kill Koichi himself but lacked a reason. Despite Koichi's taunting, Rei refused to fire, telling Soichiro that he wasn't worth killing. He then ordered that Shidou and his followers were to be expelled immediately.
It wasn't long after this that the sky was covered in a flashing light, and all the electronics instantly died. Saya explained realized that it was an EMP wave due to a nuclear device that had been detonated in the atmosphere. Soichiro praised Saya for being the only person who remained calm in this chaos to analyze the situation. He asked how they could recover from this and she explained that many of the cars wouldn't start, but could be repaired if they could find the parts. Any chance for maintenance was impossible because the front gate had been swarmed by Them. Their numbers were so great that they threatened to bring down the iron gate. Soichiro was forced to have all women and children be evacuated into the mansion. Guns were brought in and he drew his katana to fight.
Both he and his wife were forced to make the decision to have their daughter leave while they defended the survivors under their care. Saya protested and Yuriko spoke for them both. She explained to their daughter that both she and Soichiro hated that they couldn't protect her as her parents, and that she needed to escape with her friends. That's what they wished for her as her parents. Saya ran off in tear calling out to them both that she loves them. Before Kohta left, Soichiro asked the young man to continue protecting his child. They watched as Saya and her friends escaped on an amphibious vehicle. Looking to Yuriko, he told her she was a fine woman and the two fought back to back against the plague of undead. Both his fate and his wife's is unknown.
Soichiro has a small army of followers who are extremely loyal to him and very well armed. He's also trained in weapons and was a trained in the use of the sword by the father of Saeko Busujima. His main weapon is the katana.
