A mage-in-training moves to Tokyo for her studies, but on the way, she finds a revelation about herself...
Country girl Yume Kikuchi has magical powers. That's not so unusual-in a nod to the Harry Potter fad, she lives in a land exactly like modern Japan, except for the presence of wizards as capable members of society, using their magic to do all kinds of jobs-in hospitals, schools, the police force, just about anywhere. When Yume's skills develop, she too will use them to help others under the guidance of the Ministry that controls magical activity. First, though, she has to pass her apprenticeship to the handsome mage Masami Oyamada, get used to life in the big city, and work out what's most important to her. If you thought Kiki's Delivery Service was a low-key movie, wait until you see this. Despite ravishing art direction, the story is so slow and the characters so quiet, you could be back in Yokohama Shopping Log. Based on the manga in Comic Dragon by Kumichi Yoshizuki and Norie Yamada, this show is so laid back it's as if it never came off the page-pretty, sweet, and soporific; and often inverting the conventions of guy-gets-girls harem shows. In this story, we have a single hapless girl who ends up living amidst a group of guys-the gullible Yume having inadvertently applied to live with Masami on the assumption that she would be living with a girl.
