So You Want to Be a Superstar/Usagi Learns a Lesson! The Road to Stardom is Tough

So You Want to Be a Superstar/Usagi Learns a Lesson! The Road to Stardom is Tough is an anime episode of Sailor Moon that was released on 04/25/1992
This episode begins with Usagi rushing to school.  Naru is also running to school and smacks Usagi on the way.  Everyone at school is talking about someone named Mikan Shiratori, who has become famous by being scouted locally.  Mikan is hosting a "Cinderella" contest in their area to scout for new stars.  Umino says that Usagi should also be a star.  Back at home, Usagi and Naru practice their singing to try to become stars like Mikan by entering the contest.  Although they seem confident in their abilities at first, their singing is terrible.  Shingo comes in and tells them that it sounds like they are killing the cat.  Usagi and Naru blame each other for the bad performance and decide to go their separate ways to become "Cinderellas."

Usagi decides she will become famous by training Luna, while Naru invites Umino over and dresses him up in women's clothing and lipstick.  Naru says that the "Beauty and the Beast" combo should attract attention.

Meanwhile, Mikan is in the shower and gets attacked by a monster that binds her in a strange blue substance.  Mikan is frozen in place and the monster appears to have stolen her identity.  At the contest, Usagi and Naru argue over who is going to win.  Luna tells Usagi that she is quitting and that they don't have time for silly things like applying for the Cinderella Caravan.  Usagi runs off crying and sees Mamoru.  He says hi, but she runs away and hides.  Mamoru asks her if she is applying for the Cinderella Caravan, and she tells him to stop being such a busybody and blows him off.

Meanwhile, the contest is going on and the fake Mikan is hypnotizing everyone who walks by into thinking they will become stars using strange radio waves. Even her own manager and a police officer are affected and begin competing to become stars.  Everyone in the contest, including Naru and Umino, are told that they have passed and will be in a special show next week.  From then on, they will all be stars.  At school, everyone starts acting strangely and refuses to go to class.  Naru is furiously writing autographs and all anyone will do is practice their various "talents."  Finally, all the students begin fighting over whose show it will be next week.

At the show, everyone gets up onstage and performs in front of the audience, which appears to be comprised of monsters.  Mikan begins collecting their energy as they are performing.  When Usagi comes into the auditorium, Mikan turns into a blue monster and turns her head all the way around.  Afraid, Usagi runs into the bathroom.  Luna finally convinces her to transform into Sailor Moon and save everyone.  As more energy is collected, all of the performers pass out from exhaustion.  Sailor Moon appears and gives her speech.

Mikan turns into the ugly monster and tries to shoot the blue substance at Sailor Moon.  Sailor Moon hides between the auditorium seats but is eventually caught and bound in the blue substance.  The monster tells Sailor Moon that she will die in there as she cannot breathe.  Tuxedo Mask intervenes and uses a rose to break Sailor Moon out of the binding.  Sailor Moon uses Moon Tiara Action and defeats the monster.

All of the students go back to normal, and the real Mikan wakes up in her shower.  Luna gives Usagi another lecture and asks her if she has learned her lesson (that trying to become famous is a waste of time).  By the look on Usagi's face, she isn't convinced.
