Sinbad is the king of Sindria and the leader of the Seven Seas Alliance in the Magi franchise.
In the past, years before the main story and long before he becomes the King of Sindria, Sinbad was born into an impoverished community in the Parthevia Empire. The moment of his birth caused a stir across the world and he was prophecised to become a great man one day. He was born to Badr his father who was an experienced Warrior and his mother Esra. But Sinbad lost his father early in the war against the Leam Empire. Sinbad spent much of his youth alongside his mother who fell ill and the villagers who he was friendly with. He had no aspirations of becoming a great King at the time. But one day, a young Sinbad comes across Yunan who was in fact one of the legendary Magi, but Sinbad was unaware of that fact. After he and his mother were acquainted with Yunan, his mother wished for Sinbad to aspire beyond his current circumstances. Yunan agreed and became a mentor to Sinbad. After some preparation, He told Sinbad that he was to challenge one of the Mysterious Djinn Dungeons where the Djinn Baal resided, despite the fact that thousands of experienced warriors had tried and failed to conquer it, which resulted in their deaths. But when he went on his first expedition alongside many warriors, Sinbad succeeded miraculously where thousands before him had failed and reached the main chamber where Baal resided. However he was not alone. One other young warrior on the same expedition as Sinbad had made it to the same point. His recent but quarrelsome ally Drakon, a noble from the Parthevian Kingdom.
Now at the final step, they needed to decide who would obtain Baal as a Djinn would only accept one master. Sinbad and Drakon decided to duel and the winner of said duel would claim Baal. A battle ensued but the victor was Sinbad. Sinbad then took Baal as his Djinn and in doing so, became the first person in history to conquer a Dungeon at the tender age of 14. Upon returning to his home town however, Sinbad was met with his near dead mother. They had one final moment together with Sinbad claiming that he had succeeded in his mission. His mother passed away shortly after. With nothing left in his home town, Sinbad decided his quest for greatness would truly begin and he left Parthevia with that goal in mind.
Sinbad is created by Shinobu Ohtaka. He first appears in Magi volume 4: chapter 32 and episode 7. He is voiced by Daisuke Ono. Originally, Ohtaka had Sinbad drawn as a woman in the early stages. It is unknown why she changed Sinbad to a male character.
Sinbad's person has not changed much. From the start of the main series, he was considered at the pinnacle of human power and was already a King willing to do anything necessary to achieve his world peace goals. If anything, Sinbad's goals are closer to fruition.
He has purple hair, yellow eyes, and a muscular body. His attire consists of jewelry that decorates his turban and clothes. He has huge gold hoop earrings, a giant silver wrist band on his right, and a huge, gold wrist guard on his left. When using the black ruhk in his body, half of Sinbad's body turns a very dark complexion.
He's a laid back man who is kind to the weak. He accepts defeated enemies as citizens of his country when possible. But Sinbad has a mysterious persona as well, perhaps a more ruthless side to him. He has indicated that for the sake of his goals he will get his hands dirty with no hesitation. He also tries to manipulate Aladdin to his will for Sindria's sake, something that Aladdin is aware of.
Sinbad is first seen on the side of a road, passed out in a drunken slumber. When the 3 thief brothers S Nando, M Nando, and L Nando happen to pass by him, they notice how ornamented his clothing is and all of his expensive golden jewelry. They rob him of everything he was wearing while the drunk Sinbad slept on.
Later that day He comes across Aladdin and Morgiana who were travelling together and they find Sinbad stark Naked in the middle of the road with a leaf covering his hinder most parts. He asked the two for clothes. He was initially mistaken for a monster but explained to them what had happened and Aladdin gave Sinbad a set of his clothes. Although they were entirely too small for Sinbad, he took them without complaint. Sinbad said that they could call him Sin and introduced himself as a travelling Merchant on his way to Balbadd but had all of his goods stolen. The 3 of them travel the rest of the way together until they reached Balbadd. Because of their help and new found friendship, Sinbad said that he would treat them to a hotel. He was initially refused because of his improper attire but he is suddenly joined by two men. They were Jafar and Masrur and when they educated the guards on Sinbad's identity, his status as a Warrior King was revealed. With no further attempt to mask his identity, Sinbad went on with his goal and had an audience with Ahbmad Saluja, the King of Balbadd and his brother the Deputy in Chief Sahbmad Saluja. The intent was to convince the brothers to re-open their trade routes with Sindria. After being told it was being kept closed for security reasons, Sinbad stated that he would deal with the problem, that being the Fog Troupe of thieves.
Later that day, Sinbad returns to his new friends Aladdin and Morgiana and treats them to a fine lunch. He is struck with surprise to find that the little boy he had just befriended was in fact the Fourth Magi of Legend. He immediately requested Aladdin's assistance in dealing with the Fog Troupe. After Aladdin agreed, they decided to form two groups. One being Sinbad and Masrur, the other being Jafar, Aladdin and Morgiana. They split up in order to ambush the Troupe upon their arrival. But when the attack was launched, Sinbad found a hoard of poverty stricken citizens nearly starved to death. Their intent was to steal from the rich citizens of Balbadd. Taking note of their pathetic state, Sinbad did not even stop them and allowed the thefts to happen as long as they agreed not to inflict harm on their wealthy neighbors. But in the meantime, different events were taking place with Aladdin's group which Sinbad did not learn about until later on.
Later on Sinbad convened with Alibaba, Morgiana and also Alibaba this time, however secretly because he knew Alibaba would not speak freely if he were present so he listene through the door of the room. Alibaba's old friend Kashim who was actually the leader of the Fog Troupe arrived suddenly and tried to capture Alibaba so he would return with him. A struggle ensues, Alibaba trying to play both sides as both were his allies and Kashim discovering Sinbad's identity. He attempted to capture Sinbad knowing that he would be an invaluable hostage, but failed when the Warrior King demonstrated his mastery over magoi manipulation. Sinbad opts on a different course of action. He turns his attention to Alibaba and egged him into fighting with him after insulting the Fog Troupe. Alibaba engages Sinbad in swordsmanship. He was seemingly pushing Sinbad back but all at once, Sinbad swiftly defeated him, leaving him at his mercy. Kashim rushed in to help Alibaba and was prepared to trade his life for Alibaba's. When the rest of the troupe witnessed one man defeat both of their powerful leaders, several of them panicked and fled. But Sinbad said this was done on purpose. Those who stayed behind were those truly dedicated to the Fog Troupe's cause. He allowed Alibaba to get up. Alibaba did not believe him initially, but quickly saw that Sinbad was genuine as he could have defeated them then and there if he wished to do so. Sinbad then riled up the other members stating that Alibaba would change the country.
Sinbad agreed to lend his power to the Fog Troupe, then he took Alibaba with him to confront Ahbmad and Sahbmad who were in fact Alibaba's half brothers. However Ahbmad denies Alibaba audience and insults him in front of the court. It was then that the Banker arrived at the scene and acquainted himself with Sinbad. Sinbad was friendly but immediately sensed a dark aura around the Banker. He was later proven right as the Banker was a member of Al-Sarmen, the most notorious group in the world. But things went from bad to worse as an even darker person arrived, someone who Sinbad was very familiar with, Judar.
After Aladdin, Alibaba and Morgiana had trained with Sinbad's own generals Yamraiha, Sharrkan and Masrur, he decided that it was time for them to further their development and sent the young trio to capture their second dungeon along with Prince Hakuryuu who after being begged, allowed him to accompany the others. He could not go with them however since Sinbad alone in the entire world had obtained the limit of Djinn that could be wielded by a single human and he was banned from entry in the remaining dungeons for this reason.
While the young quartet of warriors made their way to the Torran islands where the Djinn Zagan was located, Sinbad was paid a sudden visit by an Judar, who easily destroyed Yamraiha's barrier and entered the Kingdom, landing right in front of Sinbad's palace. After asking Judar some questions pertaining to Aladdin, the malicious Magi threatened to kill Aladdin and destroy Sindria in the near future since he now viewed them as enemies. Princess Kougyoku who was visiting Sindria was of the same allegiance as Judar, both being of the Kou Empire. She asked for forgiveness for Judar's words, but Sinbad reassured her that everything was fine and that she could remain in Sindria at her leisure. But the experienced Sinbad was not naive about the situation and he had previously dispatched Yamraiha, Sharrkan and Masrur to tail their pupils in case Al-Sarmen targeted them. Indeed Sinbad's concerns were justified and the 3 Generals arrived in the nick of time to save their disciples from death.
Sinbad was able to speak with Alibaba through Aladdin's magic tool the Eye of Rukh which previously belonged to Yamraiha. He inquired about the situation at the Akita Kingdom and asked Alibaba if he would prefer that reinforcements be sent to help deal with the Pirates that were terrorizing the trade route between Akita and Sindria. Alibaba assures Sinbad that he could deal with the situation.
Indeed the pirates were defeated and subdued, however Sinbad offered to accept the pirates as citizens of Sindria rather than punishing them, an offer the Pirates were quick to accept.
Sinbad is perhaps the greatest warrior in the world. He is a self made King through his merits and is unchallenged in his ability to capture Djinn, having the human maximum of 7 different Djinn in his possession. He was also the first ever to acquire a Djinn. He has proficiency with numerous weapons and is a noteworthy tactition and a respected ruler.
He has the power of seven Djinn in his possession. His Djinn Metal are likely to be the many rings on his fingers.
Balalark Saika is Sinbad's Djinn Metal that utilizes his Djinn, Baal,'s power of lightning. In his Full-body Djinn Equip form, he has a lightning sword that strikes his enemies with a devastating lightning bolt.
Foraz Zora is a technique from an unnamed Djinn Metal that utilizes the power of Focalor. He can create two mini tornadoes to destroy his target.
In his Zepar form, Sinbad can unleash a deafening shriek that commands the enemy's mind. This was demonstrated when he used it to make Kougyoku sleep. This is the only command seen so far. The name of this technique and Djinn Metal is currently unknown.
