The rival of Gold who appears in the Gold and Silver chapter of Pokemon Adventures. He is first seen stealing a Totodile from Professor Elm's lab in his goal to take down the Masked Man and Team Rocket. It is revealed that Silver is the son of Giovanni.
Silver's current Pokemon team as of his last manga appearance contains Feraligatr, Weavile, Kingdra, Gyarados (Shiny), Honchkrow, and Rhyperior. He also borrowed a Tyranitar that belonged to Lance in the G/S manga, which he returned to Lance after the battle with Lugia.
He spent most of the FR/LG manga looking for his parents, and at first was unaccepting of the fact that Giovanni was his father. After Giovanni risked his life to save an unconscious Silver, Silver finally came to accept who he was. He shared the unfortunate fate of being turned to stone along with the other Pokedex holders.
He remained a stone statue until the end of the Emerald arc, when Jirachi granted Emerald's wish to reverse the petrification. He and Feraligatr, after learning the ultimate water attack, Hydro Cannon, worked with Blue and Ruby to unleash a Triple-Hydro Cannon as part of the attack to destroy the sea monster Guile hideout created.
Silver also appeared in the HG/SS arc, when after being told by Clair that Lance was onto something about Arceus, goes looking for the 16 plates, eventually coming to visit Morty. While Silver was there, Arceus himself shows up and destroys the gym while Silver and everyone else is inside. When Silver comes to, Arceus is gone. With Morty's help and Weavile's networking skills, he tracks down all 16 plates. A synchronization between Arceus and the 16 plates sent Silver along with Crys to the Sinjoh Ruins, where Arceus was being controlled by the four generals. The evil Generals attempted to create another Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, but after a long battle, Silver, Gold and Crys called out thier starters, and Feraligatr used Hydro Cannon along with the other two ultimate attacks to destroy the replicated dragons and allow Arceus to regain control over itself. Arceus then absorbed the 16 plates, returning it to it's deity-status.
