An award-wining anime director best known for his work on the OVA Freedom.

Shuhei Morita is the director of the widely acclaimed OVA Freedom, commissioned by Akira and Steamboy creator Katsuhiro Otomo.  He also created story art for the short film Kakurenbo.

Morita was born in the Nara prefecture in 1978. In 1999, while attending the Kyoto University of Art and Design, he helped found the studio Kamikaze Douga, although he has also done work with Studio 4C. In 2003, along with Daisuke Sajiki, he created Kakurenbo with the company YAMATOWORKS. In 2005, Morita won two awards-- one at the Tokyo Anime Fair and one at the Canadian Fantasy Film Festival --for Kakurenbo.
