Shonan Junai Gumi

Background

 Shonan Junai Gumi (Shonan Pure Love Gang) is actually a prequel to the series Great Teacher Onizuka. Its tells the story of Eikichi Onizuka and Ryuji Danma, the famous Onibaku gang during their school days. This is actually a more serious story than GTO with more bloody action and occasional nudity. As they start a new school, trouble seems to follow them and begin to fight gangs which are a few years above them and even fight a Yakuza boss. Their fighting abilities are legendary as they can take on more than 10 at a time and continue to fight even if they are seriously injured. Through out the Manga they have one goal to lose their virginity and are willing to do anything to achieve this. As the more people fight their reputation becomes bigger and attracting the wrong attention, with this their gang becomes bigger and full of unique characters.

   Five OVAs were released during 1993 to 1996 and recap the most important battles and story elements and also a live action episodes were made as well.
