Shogakukan just announced the winners of its annual manga awards, and two of the four titles named have been adapted into anime (or are going to be): Yuu Yabuuchi's Naisho no Tsubomi and Mitsuru Adachi's Cross Game, for the Children's Manga and Boys Manga categories, respectively.

It's really not too surprising that popular manga get both awards and anime adaptations-- the point I really want to make is that the other two manga might be something to watch for in the future. They are Kanoko Sakurakouji's supernatural romance/fantasy BLACK BIRD, for the Girls Manga category, and Shinichi Ishizuka's seinen sports manga Gaku – Minna no Yama in the General Category.
