Hello everyone!
Here is a synopsis written by our wiki editors: DocHaus, MohsinMan99, HalberdierV2, and Annabanana
Japan has been conquered by aliens from outer space called the Amanto. The city of Edo (Tokyo, before 1868) has been transformed into a weird mish-mash of traditional Japanese culture intermixing with futuristic alien technology, resulting in what mostly resembles modern-day Japan, as the country appears to have mostly accepted the rules of the Amanto. Several samurai rallied to fight them off in a brief rebellion, but in the end they were unsuccessful, and the Amanto ended up banning all swords in public.
Gintama focuses mostly on the "Yorozuya" (the Odd Jobs Trio), consisting largely of the silver-haired ronin Gintoki Sakata, glasses-wearing Shinpachi Shimura, the incredibly strong alien Kagura and her giant pet dog Sadaharu. In this version of Edo, they simply live paycheck to paycheck doing everything from fighting villains to dressing up in costumes, even though some folks occasionally try to use them to rekindle the great war against the Amanto.
Gintama: Shinyaku Benizakura-hen is scheduled to release until May 29th in North America. This is the first time that Gintama will have a dub cast.
The silver-haired samurai Sakata Gintoki investigates the disappearance of a legendary sword named Benizakura while his partners Kagura and Shimura Shinpachi try to find out what has happened to Gintoki's friend, Kotaro Katsura.

Welcome to the first weekly Gintama article! (The Sket Dance X Gintama episode did not count). Why I'm doing this? I got the Gintama fever after watching both crossover episodes. Though I won't able to work on Gintama because my wiki love belongs to Sket Dance and Beelzebub right now. These weekly reports will try to convince people out there to work on the Gintama pages. I have a partner, MohsinMan99, who's going to work on episode 230's report. Give him some recognitions.
I would love to work on it, but it's suicidal to work on a long shonen series at the same time that I'm working on these two projects. We need a team on this franchise.
This report covers episode 228: Love is Neither Plus or Minus and episode 229: Making It Through.
*I'm new to this series, so please bear with me as I butcher the names of characters who are not Gintoki, Kagura, and Shinpachi.
Shinpachi has a new girlfriend and his sister, Tae, thinks he finally has one. When Shinpachi pulls his girlfriend, he pulls out a portable handheld game that has a girl saying hello. As Tae calls Gintoki and Kagura to help her obsessed brother, Gorilla has Gintoki enter the SIM world, Love Choris, in order to save Shinpachi. However, Gintoki gets himself involved in the My Life World Tournament against his will.
Will Gintoki survive in the tournament or will Gintoki and Shinpachi become total addicts to SIM games?
We got a new opening theme! It has a nice serious tone and a city theme. Too bad, it was misleading.
As a new Gintama fan, Gintoki has a lot of girls, so I was wondering about the significance. I find out soon enough as I watch these episodes.
Speaking of characters, this story has three heroines in the SIM game.
Three Heroines
---
Momo is older than the main character in the game, and she is the older sister type of a woman.
Sayaka is the captain of the railroad club. She is Isao Kondo's girlfriend, and the main character is in the same club as her.
Pinko is the owner of a Chinese restaurant and the widow of Takuzo. The main character happens to be her frequent customer.
On with the good stuff for these two episodes.
Overall, this story is bizarre and hilarious yet disturbing. I'm still looking forward to the action packed Gintama stuff.
I like thank Mohsinman99 and my team for sticking by me, and I thank you guys for reading this. Hopefully, we get some Gintama love.

Welcome to a special edition of the Sket Dance reports. This is the 4th report for the Sket Dance project on Anime Vice, and episode 26 of Sket Dance is the second crossover episode from another series, Gintama, that started the Crossover in its episode, 227. There will be tons of references to other animes and lots of 4th walls broken.
For those of you who don't know my team, my teammates are Annabanana, KuroNekoXIII, Hibaru, HalberdierV2, and Piface314.
From the Sket Dance and Gintama Similarites and Differences blog, Halberdierv2 and Mohsinman99 had told me about a crossover coming to Sket Dance this week. It's thanks to them, Anna and my team are prepared to tackle it.
In this episode, Gintoki tells his team that they are doing a crossover with Sket Dance, but Gintoki thinks that Sket Dance is going into their territory and stealing the spotlight. When Sket Dance comes in, Bossun and Gintoki have a challenge on Treasure Island where the winner is the first team to find the Pizazz Pizazz fruit. The Devil fruit has a strange effect on the user.
Who will win the challenge and become the best odd jobs trio anime? What is the Devil fruit's effect?
In this second crossover episode, Bossun and his team meet Gintoki's team again due to a machine error. They have a nice conversation that has some jokes and discoveries while Sket Dance and Gintoki time travel through a montage of Sket Dance episode clips.
Will Sket Dan and Gintoki's team gain closure and ever lasting relationship or will they have bad blood with each other?
Beware of Mild Spoilers!

Despite the fact that my first Gintama episode is the crossover one, I feel that Gintama has a better crossover episode than Sket Dance. The reasons are that Gintama has more action, some innuendos, and the flow of the episode is not too dragged out compared to the Sket Dance version.
Both crossovers are strange and funny. Originally, I am excited to watch these episodes a week ago, and when I get to watch the episodes, my expectations are almost fulfilled. I just wish the Sket Dance episode has more of a plot or some kind of challenge to make it more interesting.
The Gintama episode is making a parody on the One Piece X Toriko crossover. See these images.
There are tons of references to other animes, but I won't list them. You have to look them on our wiki page for episode 227 of Gintama and episode 26 of Sket Dance. I'm already giving too much spoilers.
* As of Oct. 22, 2011, MohsinMan99 is our new teammate for Team W.I.K.I Nation. He's the Gintama expert.
I found these recently on this website: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/sket-dance?before=1317305507
Please click on them and enjoy!
*I don't know who made them but thank them for these cool GIFs.
I thank you guys for reading this. You guys are awesome! This is for my community and my team W.I.K.I Nation who are working hard. I'm sorry that I couldn't get good images, but I will post more and Anna will post the Sket Dance's images.
This week, it is Anna's turn to do Sket Dance 26 and the two other anime episodes, so I figured I should work Gintama 227 just for the crossover event and the characters from Switch Off: Sawa Yamauchi, Masafumi Usui, and Yukino Hirai. It will take some time.
Halberdierv2 is working Chuuma's page while KuroNekoXIII did a splendid job on The SketchBook page. Please see our team's work. Thank you.
Give my team a round of applause.
Edit: As of 9/30, I finished Gintama 227.

Purpose: To get people to watch/ or read Sket Dance or Gintama, to reignite wiki passion in both series, and to get some ideas.
Hello guys. I'm Takashichea, a member of Team Wiki Nation and part of other teams on other franchises as well. Recently, due to a request by Piface314, Team Wiki Nation is created to tackle Sket Dance franchise with three partners, Anna, Piface314, and Hibaru. As I watched the show and did research on the web, I noticed Gintama pops out a lot. I learned that Kenta Shinohara was the assistant to Hideaki Sorachi, author of Gintama.
I haven't watch or read Gintama yet, and I have only watched Sket Dance up to episode 15.
Let's brainstorm!
Edit:
Thank Halberdierv2 for this image.
Characters are the important thing in anime and manga. I put this in a separate section.

Total: Bossun to Gintoki = 3, Hime to Kagura = 2, and Switch to Shinpachi = 1. I don't know much about Switch, and Shinpachi's wikia info is vague.
I will list any changes and suggestions from comments below. I want to see the change and the additions of information.
Thank Mohsinman99 for his contributions.
I will use these thoughts and comments to write for the similarities to other franchises. I used mostly wikia for Gintama to compare my experiences from watching Sket Dance anime. I have no trouble spoiling myself to Gintama during my quick research, but for Sket Dance, I don't read the wiki or other sources. See example below.
See Shaman King franchise for an example. I was proud of this work. It's amazing how Zatch bell and Law of Ueki is similar to Shaman King. I could not relate D. Gray Man or Blue Exorcist to Shaman King more than its use of supernatural and demon themes.
