Shinpachi Shimura

Shinpachi Shimura grew up with his sister and his father in their family dojo Koudokan. Their father died when they were young, leaving them to take care of the dojo and also a huge debt for them to pay.

There's a gag in the series which has been pointed out by many characters is that Shinpachi's glasses are his "charm point" and take up to 95% of his existence, the rest being 3% water and 2 % garbage. This even goes as far as whenever Shinpachi is separated from his glasses, others will address the glasses as Shinpachi, rather than Shinpachi himself.

He's also the founder and leader of the Terakado Tsu's fanclub: Terakado Tsu's Imperial Guards, which he takes very seriously.
