The father of Goro Honda and a former professional pitcher.
Shigeharu, once a professional pitcher, is the father of protagonist Goro Honda. After the untimely death of his wife, he finds himself raising Goro by himself while struggling to return to the sport of baseball. It is his love of the game that initially inspires Goro to follow in Shigeharu's footsteps.
