Released on 10-25-2003 New Characters: Gei Yin and Yugai
At a diner, Ryu decides to become a shaman when he is thinking about Yoh's fight with Ren Tao. After making his decision, Ryu and his friends ride to Yoh's house. Ryu begs Yoh to accept him as a student to train him the ways of the shaman while Morty disapproves Ryu's goals. Suddenly, Anna accepts Ryu if Ryu passes a cooking test. Ryu passes and Anna makes Ryu do chores while Yoh trains with Manta following him. Meanwhile, Ren watches Jun and sees that Jun is changed by her battle with Yoh. The two siblings meet Gei Yin and Gei Yin wants to assist them in destroying Yoh due to Ren's father's request. However, Jun does not want Gei Yin's help and the two sends their best corpse puppets to battle. Gei Yin's Yugai beat Pailong, but Ren threatens Gei Yin, so Gei Yin decides to take Yoh herself.
Yoh gives Ryu his bokken since Yoh broke Ryu's in a fight with Pailong. Then, Gei Yin makes an appearance and sends Yugai to attack Yoh while Ryu and Manta observe the battle. With Yoh getting the advantage, Yugai decides to use a sedative smoke bomb and illusions to win. Yet, Yoh defeats Yugai with Buddha-Giri.
Anime and Manga Differences
In the manga, Ryu becomes a shaman or decides to be one after Tokagero hijacks his body. For this anime, Ryu already decides to become a shaman before meeting Tokagero. Also, in the manga, Ryu used to have a crush on Anna, but in the anime, Ryu does not crush on Anna.
