Shakuyaku "Shakky" is a former pirate and now proprietor of Shakky's Rip-Off Bar in Sabaody Archipelago.
Shakuyaku, Shakky, is a former pirate that even clashed with the hero of the Marine Vice-Admiral Garp, but she gave up the wild life for the straight and narrow for unknown reasons. She eventually retired into hiding at Sabaody Archipelago to open up a bar called Shakky's Rip-Off Bar. A friend and frequent patron to her establishment was the former first-mate of the Roger Pirates, Silvers Rayleigh. She befriended a former empress of Amazon Lily, Gloriosa; and they took in three young Kuja Amazons who had escaped slavery from the Holy Land Marie Jois under the cruel Celestial Dragons. Gloriosa eventually took Hancock, Sandersonia, and Marigold back to Amazon Lily in the Calm Belt. When Rayleigh was saved from drowning by a child fish-man named Hatchan, he would drop by Shakky's bar to visit, and she always welcomed him.
Though retired, Shakky follows the news on up and coming pirates. Though the names of several rookies stood out in the papers. One crew caught her interest, and more so the captain, Monkey D. Luffy. She admired the trouble he caused without getting innocent people involved. That made her a fan of his.
Shakuyaku is a supporting character in the One Piece series that was created by Eiichiro Oda. The series first began serialization in Weekly Shōnen Jump on August 4, 1997. She would later appear in the Sabaody Archipelago Arc that began in Volume 50.
Her first appearance was in One Piece Volume 51 CH. 498 "The Eleven Supernovas", and her first anime appearance was in One Piece - Episode 392 "New Rivals Gather! The 11 Supernovas". Her character in the Japanese series is voiced by Hiromi Tsuru, and the U.S. dub produced by FUNimation has yet to announce a voice actress.
Though she was a pirate forty years ago. Her actual age is unclear. The name Shakuyaku comes from the Japanese word (芍薬) for the Chinese peony.
Shakky was shaking down some customers when Hatchan arrived with some friends. They were three members of the Straw Hat Pirates, including Monkey D. Luffy. Hatchan also had a young mermaid with him called Camie, and she teased by asking if she was his girlfriend. She surprised Luffy and the crew with the knowledge she had about them. She told him about the other rookies on Sabaody and how they made up the Eleven Supernovas. The fact Luffy doesn't get innocent people hurt is what makes her his number one fan. She tried asking him about the Enies Lobby incident she read about, but he was too modest to get into it. They were there to see Rayleigh, but she hadn't seen him in months. She gave some suggestions, and they all left together.
Luffy and his entire crew returned later with Rayleigh, but also Hatchan had been shot. She set up a table for Chopper, Luffy's crew doctor, to tend to Hatchan. They had all gotten into a fight to save Camie, who had been nearly sold into slavery. Rayleigh told them the true story behind Gold Roger's death, and he agreed to coat their pirate ship. Shakky gave them a Vivre Card to find their way back after three days. Camie was worried about the Straw Hats, and even Shakky knew they stood little chance against a Marine Admiral.
Rayleigh returned, and the Straw Hats had been defeated thought saved by the intervention of the Shichibukai, Bartholomew Kuma. Kuma met with Rayleigh and Shakky's bar later to tell him where he had sent the pirates.
After the end of the war between the Marines and the Whitebeard Pirates, Rayleigh was busy trying to figure out how Luffy had gotten from Amazon Lily to Marineford to be involved in the war. He knew of her hatred toward men. It was Shakky who suggested that Boa Hancock had fallen in love with Luffy. Rayleigh went to Amazon Lily to investigate, and Shakky watched over the Straw Hat's pirate ship with Hatchan, Camie, and the leader of the Rosy Life Riders, Duval. Bartholomew Kuma later arrived to take over the duties of watching the Thousand Sunny.
Two years had passed since she last met the Straw Hat Pirates. Rayleigh had returned six months before then from training Luffy in the use of Haki. Roronoa Zoro was the first to return. The crew reunited, and they left on their ship to Fish-Man Island.
