Sei is a third year student when the series begins, and ends being in college. Sei is unlike most characters in the show, because she is loud, rough around the edges, and loves messing with people. She is one of the wisest as well as caring characters in the show. She cares a great deal for Shimako Todo, her petite soeur, and yumi; who she is always there to comfort. She is a very complex emotional character due to the tragedy that happened to her during her second year, when the girl she loved rejected her, and proceeded to move schools. She has been able to move past this, which is show by her "Hard to explain" relationship to Shimako. Sei studies English and American literature, and appears in the show even after she graduates. She is arguably the most loved character in the show know for her sense of humor, and straight-forward attitude. The quote, “To say Sei’s your favorite character is like saying the sky is blue.” is rather well known by fans of the show. Although the series is regarded as Yuri,or shoujo-ai, she is the only clear lesbian character in the show.
