Points of interest

  • The kanji at the center of the scroll that Chiyo is working on is 解 (kai), which means "solution"; and is the first kanji in the word 解毒剤 (gedokuzai), which means "antidote".
  • A young Tsunade appears in this episode from Choyi's troubles with her during the one of the Shinobi Wars.
  • Tsunade sneezes suddenly soon after being talked about. It's a Japanese superstition that you suddenly sneeze when people are talking about you or spreading rumors about you.
  • Classic tea cups were formed out of clay. It's considered a bad omen for a cup to suddenly break. This was previously seen in Naruto Shippuden Episode 8. Tsunade goes on to check her local lottery ticket. Her ticket is for Group 3 #117037 and she won the first prize. Tsunade only has good luck in gambling right before something terrible happens.
  • The first shadowy figure of the Akatsuki that appears is not even the true body of Pain. It is the Deva Path, the body of a young ninja named Yahiko; and is being remotely controlled by the real Pain. The Deva Path of Pain will not be fully revealed until Naruto Shippuden Episode 114.
  • The Rinnegan eyes of Pain are colored in correctly than when they finally appear, later in the series.
  • The Akatsuki stand on the fingers of the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path that corresponds to the finger that they wear their Akatsuki ring on. The only member of the Akatsuki who have no spoken lines are Konan, Hidan, and Kakuzu.
  • The jutsu to extract the Tailed-Beast takes three days and nights.
  • Kakashi is mistaken for his father Sakumo Hatake.

Hidden Leaf Village Omake:

  • In the omake after the credits, Sakura hosts a special where she interviews Tsunade and talks about her positive attributes, but Naruto butts in and gets them both mad.
