Episode Synopsis

Boa Hancock has promised to give Luffy a ride to where he needs to go. Luffy is excited to leave tomorrow, and his stomach grumbles.

Hancock asks her sisters to see to it Luffy has a place at tonight's banquet. She wont attend, because she's feeling tired. Luffy thanks her for the ride and the food.

Granny Nyon is astounded how much Hancock seems to trust Luffy.

Later at the banquet, Luffy is eating with the Kuja Amazons. Some seem uncomfortable and offended he's there. Others are curious about him.

Many are confused why a man who was sentenced to death is now eating with them. Ran wonders if this is some kind of trap for Luffy. For the Kuja Pirates to kill Luffy when his guard is down. They all discreetly pull out knives.

They move into strike, but stop. Luffy is acting suspicious, and they wonder if they have been noticed. Luffy is getting angry now. The Kuja pirates runin to attack when Luffy suddenly bursts out and wonders why no one is singing.

Luffy starts leading them in a chorus of "Bink's Sake". One by one the amazons start laughing at Luffy.

Later into that night, Luffy is still partying and laughing i up with all the amazons. Everyone is enjoying themselves. Some time later Luffy goes back to eating and everyone is friendly. In fact, they all seem a bit too interested in Luffy now. Many reach out to grab and stretch his face. There is a lie of women who have paid to touch Luffy and stretch him. the price is 20 Gol a touch.

Luffy is getting upset, because he can't eat like this. The commotion causes then to burst through a wall.

Margaret saves Luffy and they hide outside to escape. They talk about all that has happened. She says she heard all about how he protected her when she was turned to stone. She thanks him.

At the palace, Sandersonia and Marigold are worried about their sister. She hasn't eaten or rested. As Hancock is thinking about tomorrow. She starts to cry and faints.

Luffy and Margaret arrive at Granny Nyon's home. Margaret asks if Luffy can hide here for a while. Luffy calls her "Granny Bean". Nyon is reading the paper. Luffy asks about it and she says that the Coo News isn't delivered to Amazon Lily. She mentions how the empress is a member of the Shichibukai. Luffy asks who the Shichibukai is on the island. He's shocked to hear it's Boa Hancock.

It was 11 years ago that she became captain of the Kuja Pirates and the empress. The price on her head used to be 80 Million Berries after only one trip as captain. This was partly due to the reputation the Kuja Pirates had before. The World Government was extremely cautious about her and invited her to be a Shichibukai. Now that title is in jeopardy.

Only now does Luffy hear the news of the Marines going to war with Whitebeard's pirates. Nyon tells Luffy that the news is reporting that Portgas D. Ace is scheduled for execution. Luffy is in shock at this news. Nyon goes on to explain that the pirate Blackbeard was made Shichibukai because of his capture of Ace.

Luffy interrupts and tells Nyon that Ace is his brother. Nyon says if Whitebeard wins the war that Ace stands a good chance. Luffy asks where the execution is being held. It's at Marineford. It's one week at about six days from today.

Luffy asks how long it takes to get to Sabaody Archipelago from Amazon Lily. Nyon explains more then a week. Luffy knows that Ace will be executed before he can reach his crew.

Luffy ten asks how long it takes to get from Amazon Lily to where Ace is being held right now. Nyon tells him it's in Impel Down. It's a week by pirate ship, but for a Marine ship it's 4 days. She explains how the Marine Forces use a special current that is locked off by the Gates of Justice that allow speedy travel between Enies Lobby, Impel Down, and Marineford.

Luffy removes the burning Vivre Card from his hat brim. Luffy remembers when Ace gave him the paper.

Luffy knows Ace wont be happy to be rescued by Luffy since Ace is stronger. He apologizes to his crew, but he plans to go after Ace first.

Nyon tells Luffy it will be a hard battle and he will have to break into Impel Down. Right now Ace is their most important prisoner.

Luffy is still determined to go. Nyon suggests how Boa Hancock is refusing to follow the World Government's orders. If Hancock was to honor that request. She could take the Marine's ship and go to Impel Down. Luffy says he will go ask her now.

At the palace, the lights are going up and Enishida is running through the halls in a panic. She find Granny Nyon at the entrance. Boa Hancock has fallen ill.

In her bed, Hancock is gasping and in pain. She ask if she is going to die.

Points of Interest

  • On Amazon Lily, the currency is called "Gol". Most of the world it's called "Berries".
  • Blackbeard appears in this episode on the paper Granny Nyon is reading as part of the story of his capture of Ace.
  • The scene where Ace gives Luffy the Vivre Card didn't happen in the way it is shown here as it did in the manga. In the manga, Ace gave him the Vivre Card on the ship the Going Merry.
  • The Straw Hat crew have no spoken lines in this episode. They only appear as part of Luffy's memories. This is also one of the rare times that Zoro is only seen holding one sword, Wado Ichimonji.
  • Akainu appears only as a shadowy figure along with Aokiji and Kizaru.
  • The total roster of the Shichibukai is shown. This is the first vague appearance of Jimbe.
