Elder brother of Gorneo and the member of the 12 Heavens Blades of Grendan. Master of Karenkei and specializes in hand-to-hand combat. Savaris is the bloodthirstiest Heavens Blade, a real fighting maniac.
Savaris was born in Grendan to the famous Luckens family which birthed many Heaven Blade Successors. Even compared to them Savaris had incredible talents and earned the Heavens Blade at the record age of 13( later Layfon toped that record though). Savaris committed himself to the Military Arts wholesomely and mastered all the Luckens family skills. He strived to become the strongest and soon became obsessed with the power. Out of the 12 Heaven Blade possessors Savaris has the strongest lust for battle.
Role in the Anime:
He was part of the three-member team of Heaven Blade recievers who fought against the huge Mature Stage Filth Monster, Limbeekoom. The monster had incredible regeneration and despite his, Layfon's and Lintence's efforts. In the end they decided to use a powerful combination attack to bring the monster finally down. Savaris's part was to drive through the creature(supposedly with Absolute. Full Power. Stab)
Savaris and Lintence has the mission to guard Leerin. In the meantime a parasitic Filth Monsters lurks around. It possesses one of the Military Artists, namely Gahard who plants great hatred against Layfon. The monster attacks Leerin and Deruk and Savaris comes just in time for rescue. He lures the monster away and defeats it with slight assistance of Lintence's steel threads.
Savaris gets the mission to escort Leerin with the Psyharden Katana to Zuelni, where Layfon stays. He also has the secondary mission to retrieve the Haikizokou(a spirit which possess great power). They get to Myath where the city police stops them. They have to stay there until the city finishes the investigations and the situation calms down. Leerin finds the source of trouble ( the missing Electronic Spirit, the entity which moves the cities). Roy, the perpetrator attacks her but Nina's timely intervention saves her from harm. Roy flees and Savaris catches him. At the same time Myath is being attacked by Filth Monsters. Savaris decides to play around with Roy and crushes both his legs to keep him from moving. He plays on Roy's great fear of Filth Monsters and deliberately lets one get too close. He only kills the monster in the last minute and the freaked out Roy faints the next second. Savaris sadistically laughs but Dixerio interrupts him saying "I didn't know the Luckens family would turn out this evil". Although Dixerio retreats after a quick exchange of blows. As the blockade ended Savaris and Leerin resumes their travel to Zuelni.
Savaris takes Leerin safely to Zuelni and asks her to not tell anyone about him. Later Filth Monsters attack Zuelni again and the Haikizokou inside Nina goes on rampage. Layfon and the 17th squad sets of to find her but unfortunately Savaris is faster. Layfon saves Nina just in time but Savaris managed to take the Haikizokou and attains dreadful power. Layfon has no chance to win and Savaris is about to finish him when suddenly Layfon's own Heavens Blade hovers in front of him and shields him from Savaris' finishing blast. Layfon quickly defeats Savaris who gets sucked into the Aurora Field.
Role in the original Light Novels:
He's the older brother of Gorneo and the master of Gahard(the man Layfon crippled). Like the protagonist, Savaris is a fighting prodigy as well. Before Layfon he's supposed to be the youngest Heaven Blade Receiver, achieving the title at the age of 13. Savaris is introduced in the third book. The Queen assigned him and Lintence to guard Leerin from an unknown threat. The enemy is later revealed to be a Filth Monster with parasitic ability. Savaris lets the parasite to infect the comatose Gahard. The Filth Monster took over the body of his former pupil and like Savaris predicted acted on the primary impulse of Gahard. The monster attacked Leerin and her foster father, Deruk. Thanks to the timely interruption of Savaris, they were saved. The Heavens Blade provoked the monsterified Gahard to a duel. Thanks to the effects of parasite, Gahard took a considerable leap in power. Yet Savaris handled him casually and expressed his boredom over the lacking skills of his pupil. He mocked Gahard which in response transformed into a true monster. By showcasing the ultimate Luckens technique(Thousand People Rush), Savaris promptly defeated Gahard and ripped the monster to little pieces.
To deliver the Psyharden Katana to Layfon, Leerin went to Zuelni. The Queen asked Savaris to escort her on the journey. He also got the secret objective to retrieve the Haikizokou that probably resides in the same city. Their roaming bus were stalled at Myath due to a recent stealing case. Leerin and Savaris got stuck at the alien city. Filth Monsters attacked the city and Leerin got lost in the middle of chaos. Roy kidnapped her but thanks to Nina, she was saved. Savaris took an interest in Roy. He wondered whether someone who lost his honor as military artist(like Roy or Layfon) can ever return to the battlefield. He incapitated Roy and lured a hungry Filth Monster near him. Roy couldn't bear it and fainted due to fear. Savaris was dissatisfied and took out the Filth Monster in a flash. He started to worry that maybe Layfon is the same somewhere at Zuellni. Nina and Leerin got attacked by a Wolf Face, servant of Ignasis. Despite her best effort Nina couldn't defeat her opponent. Savaris came and crushed the Wolf Face. The corpse of his opponent disappeared instantly. He amusedly noted how the legends are true about the immortality of Wolf Faces. He instantly realized that Nina has the Haikizokou, the exact thing the Queen orddered savaris to bring back. Yet he lets her go but not before he reveals his identity as Heavens Blade and that he's going to Zuelni.
Battle against Behemoth
On route to Zuelni again Savaris told a tale to Leerin about his first and only cooperation with Layfon. A few years ago He, Layfon and Lintence were assigned to defeat an especially powerful monster: Behemoth. Behemoth was roughly as high as the city of Grendan and looked like a mountain-sized muddy doll in appearance. The monster possessed insane regeneration and the trio fought it for three whole days. Finally, on the last day Lintence found the monster's ture nature. Behemoth wasn't one creature but the combination of countless cells. The only way to defeat the monster were to kill each and every cell in one huge combined attack. Lintence initiated with Hyouraku, burned one thrid of the monster to crisp. Then Savaris and Layfon finished the monster off with their own techniques. Savaris used the two ultiamte Luckens moves, Thousand People Rush and Roar Kei. His attack reduced the monster to dust. Savaris noted in surprise that Lintence speak with Layfon like an apprentice. Lintence was considered cold and never taught anyone before. The overwhelming attacks exhausted the Heavens Blades. But the monster did not die completely. A very small part survived the massive onslaught. Savaris was about to move when Lintence quickly destroyed the last part before him. Savaris was shocked since it meant Layfon has stronger Kei. Ever since then Savaris became interested in Layfon's power and wished to fight him at least once.
Myath had an inter-city competiton with Zuellni. Savaris used the situation to secretly sneak in Zuelni. He grabbed Leerin got from Myath to Zuellni in a single huge leap. He jumped so high that the enemy psychokinesists couldn't find them. Despite the colossal jump they safely landed and Savaris asked Leerin to not tell a soul about him. He hid himself on Zuelni for many months then. In the meantime he took interest in training Gorneo, his little brother. Savaris wanted Gonreo to be the successor of the Luckens family, instead himself. The reason is: Savaris has little interest in women. To be precise he has little interest in anything but fighting. That way he sure won't have a child, making him unqualified as inheritor. [to be continued...]
Note: This article mainly explains Savaris' powers in the Light Novel. In the Anime Savaris may or may not possess them. In some cases the differences are mentioned.
Power: As a Heavens Blade successor Savaris has incredible power. At that he's only surpassed by the Queen and Lintence. His power is way over the level of an average Military Artists. He can effectively fight against masses of Filth Monsters or demolish a whole city all alone.
Strength: Savaris has overwhelming strength. His attacks are enhanced with internal Kei and can shatter rocks or burst the Filth Monsters' carapace open. One of the more exotic strength feats was when he threw a rock-containing a message over tens of kilometers of distance to exactly the right place. Same way he can jump over hundreds of meters of distance, while carrying a person.
Karenkei: The art of enhancing the unarmed attacks with Kei. This is the Luckens' way of Military Arts. The Karenkei is often associated with elemental effects like fire or wind, sometimes even earth. Savaris mastered all those techniques at young age and a master at them.
Stamina: In nornal situations Savaris can fight for 3 days straight without any breather and still showing only little signs of fatigue. The immense amount of Kei lets his body move for extended periods.
External Kei Bursts: With his vast powers Savaris can shoot out strong Kei blasts with ease. One of his regular blasts have the power to level a smaller hill in one shot. In the anime he only demonstrates such power in the last episode.
Agility: Savaris has incredible speed. He can keep up with Layfon and has his own version of instant movement. Also despite being incapable of real flight he can stay in the air for extended periods using his Kei or by riding on the backslashes of External Kei Blasts. Noticeably he has no problems with fighting in air and ground. In the anime though he appears to be flying without effort.
Sakkei: This is a common technique which conceals the Kei of the Military Artists. Savaris uses that on stealth operations and ambushes.
External Kei -Jaryu: Savaris forms numerous Kei threads around his opponents. Through those threads he can channel his Kei and the force of his punches directly, appearing to hit the target from great distance and from all direction. Unless the millimeter-thick threads are discovered there's no way to notice the path of the attacks. At episode 19 of the anime Savaris probably used this technique to cripple and play around with Roy.
External Kei - Drip: Savaris touches somone or something and releases his Kei inside. The Kei slowly destroys it inside in painless way. Savaris only used once in the novels without a Dite to defeat an average Mature Stage Filth Monster at once. In the anime at episode 19 we have a similar but more flashier scene.
External Kei – Gourikitepa Kouga: Savaris lands his palm on his opponent or an object and releases his Kei inside. Unlike the Drip, Gourikitepa Kouga uses more force and the target literally explodes from the massive Kei. Savaris used it against the Filth Monster in the first episode of the Anime. Though in the Light Novels that move has much more power, obliterating huge part of the monster.
External Kei -Fuuretsukei(Quick Wind Kei): This is a technique that releases blades of wind alongside of the path of kicks. Savaris's kicks are more like a hurricane though.
External Kei - Kaze Rentsu( Fierce Wind Style): The improved version of Quick Wind where the performer spins non-stop and releases a fierce volley of wind blades constantly. Alternatively it can be used as a stronger version of Fuuretsukei.
External Kei – Kishikubaku(Compressed air) : Savaris compresses air into one point and detonates it like a bomb. This move can be prepared quickly and can be used as a screen for more powerful attacks.
External Kei – Goushiyoudan(Rising bullet): It's a form of external Kei burst/blast which Savaris used to defend against the strength of the exploding attacks coming from above. It's mechanics are unknown.
Internal Kei - Thousand People Rush: The technique generates numerous copies of Savaris, sometimes true to its name reaching one thousand. The copies can fight independently or in groups and know the same techniques as Savaris. Although, he can't keep them up for long and extensive use of those copies can be exhausting. Savaris calls this the most elegant move of the Luckens Family.
External Kei - Roar Kei: The ultimate technique of the Luckens. Savaris releases a Kei-enhanced Scream accompanied by an external Kei burst. As a result the Roar Kei sends powerful vibration weaves and air pressure to one direction. Due to the nature of the attack the only way of defense is to neutralize the attack with an opposing external Kei blast before it reaches its destination. The effects of Roar Kei result in disorientation and severe internal bleeding. At higher power it can destroy someone on cellular level.
Absolute. Full Power. Stab: It's a new technique developed by Savaris and yet to be completed. The technique is relatively easy but dangerous, Savaris attempts a full powered body rush at the opponent (generally a Filth Monster). In short Savaris transforms himself into a living bullet and attempts to rip through the Filth Monster's hardened body. So far he used it only once and ended up injured. In the anime we see him performing this technique in the end of episode 1. He uses it as a final attack against the Mature Filth Monster, Limkeeboom alongside with Layfon's and Lintence's attacks.
