n response to my old Samurai 7 on Toonami blog in which instead of reviewing the whole series I just did that I will now be doing Samurai 7 episode reviews for each episode that airs from here on. Toonami has finally reached the point where I wish to review Samurai 7

My overall look on Samuari 7

It a good series but not a great one that is for sure. it is based from the old asian movie called "The magnificent Seven" or something like that. I fell in love with the characters in the series and defiantly I like it. Is it a serious worth going the extra mile for to catch on Toonami. Well if you haven't watched it then I say watching it on Toonami is defiantly worth it, but for hose who have already seen it I'd say it still worth watching just not going out your way too. I have still enjoyed a few episodes of it on Toonami and i still say it is a great series

Anyway I will be formatting my episode reviews much like my Bleach chapter reviews however I will replace my first impressions and later impressions with a "During Episode" and a "After Episode" Impression

So anyway look forward to that. After the series fisnihes on Toonami I will be doing a series review for samurai 7 which I'll post here

With Deadman Wonderland finishing up its run on Toonami, Funimation has announced the next show on the 11:30 pm CT / 12:30 am ET docket. The 2004 series, Samurai 7, is next on the list. The show will begin on August 18th, 2012. The Studio Gonzo anime is based off the beloved 1954 Akira Kurosawa film, Seven Samurai. It's rather famous for it's $300,000 an episode budget. It also ran on the Funimation Network back in 2010. It also aired on IFC and Razer.

I am a fan of the series and use the videos below to get a general understanding of the show, before you watch it on Toonami.

Here's a synopsis for those who are new to Samurai 7.

From the wiki editors on Anime Vice.

Overview

Based on the classic film “7 Samurai” by Akira Kurosawa, Samurai 7 follows the story of 7 samurai warriors who are recruited by the priestess of the rice village to defeat the bandits known as the Nobuseri who steal their rice and kidnap their women and children.

The series has a very different style from the movie, adding mechas, robot samurais and futuristic elements to the story. Plus, the inclusion of 4 new characters.

There has been a lot of rumors & discusion as of late about what will be the next show on Toonami. Acording to a twitter post by Jason DeMarco (VP of Strategic Marketing & Promotions for Cartoon Network & Adult Swim, also the man behind Toonomi), Samurai 7 will be premiering on the action cartoon block in the coming months. The show originally aired for 26 episodes in Japan during 2004, then later dubbed by Funimation in 2006.

With both Deadman Wonderland & Cowboy Bebop ending their runs in two weeks, we could see the show as early as the end of the month taking Deadman's premiere spot while DW occupies the 2:30/5:30 time slot. This is if Toonami plans on keeping the rerun block intact.

Update: According to the schedule on adultswim.com, Samurai 7 WILL be taking Deadman Wonderland's spot starting August 19th.

I’ve recently purchased a decent amount of anime and figured if I’m going to watch it, I might as well contribute to my favorite anime site. I present to you (in Tom Pinchuk’s Watch & Learn format), SITTING THROUGH SAMURAI 7 #1

So let’s get to it…
 Totally B.A.
 Totally B.A.

Samurai 7 (a FUNimation release), a series I have been meaning to watch for a while now, I finally picked up off Amazon (Blu-Ray on sale!). I didn’t know much about the series other than it being based off the classic film Seven Samurai, but I like me some samurai anime so I decided to give it a shot.

Samurai 7 starts off just like every samurai flick should, samurai fighting mech suits and airships in the sky… Yeah, so basically the story comes down to this village wanting to rid the so called “bandits”, which are huge airships that have search lasers? The elders decide to send Kirara Mikumari, the “maiden of the shrine” into the city to find samurai to hire. They send her because she has some type of magic crystal that literally points her to what she is looking for. Tagging along for the ride is her little sister Komachi, and their protector Rikichi

Craziness ensues with thieves, dynamite strapped robbers, Katsushiro - a kind hearted Kenshin Himura look-a-like (it’s the hair and voice), Kikuchiyo- a huge samurai cybog (who was talking just fine after losing his head!), and Kambei a battle hardened samurai looking for revenge.

 Three's Company? Not for long.
 Three's Company? Not for long.
The show seems very promising. My guess is half the series will be about finding and recruiting the samurai and half fighting the “bandits”. The world has a steam punk feel to it that definitely works; Kikuchiyo has steam exhausting from his head/helmet, the city is show having downed missiles or aircraft around it, the mechs and airships seem interesting enough.   Maybe some type of alien technology?

I’m watching on Blu-Ray (which looks amazing) with subs, but the series is dubbed on Netflix and the DVD set is on sale for $13 if you want to join in. Feel free to share thoughts, comments and help me to update the wiki!
