Saionji Kyouichi
Saionji is a former Champion Duelist. He cruelly mistreated the Rose Bride. He lost his title to Utena. He is very arrogant and believes the power to revolutionize the world rightfully belongs to him. He is also captain of the Kendo team.
Kyoichi Saionji is a complex character, not unlike every one of his cast-mates. Unlike most of the cast, however, he is one of the few to have met our main character, Utena, when she was a child, before her decision to become a prince, and retain her nobility no matter what.
Just like Utena herself, he doesn't quite remember the specifics of what occurred, but much like her, he came away from the experience changed. Seeing her hiding in a coffin as he did, amongst other things, left in him the desire for something eternal.
Years later, once he has become involved in the duels of the End of the World, this is his main motive for obtaining Anthy, the Rose Bride. With Anthy, comes the power of miracles, and with this power, he will find his eternal thing.
He hopes.
