A Jovian cloud-cruiser disappears in a strange accident, its pilot feared lost. The master "electrician" Issei Yuki is recalled to Osaka from his current proj-ect in Africa and dispatched to investigate. He discovers that there are problems on the giant orbital power station Saint Elmo that are creating electrical storms and threatening to plunge Earth into eternal darkness. In order to save his father's great project, and Mayu, the girl he loves, he tries to stop the Saint Elmo from falling into the sun. A very obscure TV anime, not broadcast in the Tokyo area, and therefore unknown to a large proportion of the Japanese audience. Despite a development credit from Captain Harlock-creator Leiji Matsumoto, Saint Elmo had its true genesis as a vanity project for the Kansai Electric Company, which wanted to do something to commemorate its 30th anniversary. Apparently, this hokey sci-fi show was it.
