Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon: it was my gateway anime, and I was hardcore into it, knew everything even though I'd only watched what I could see on TV, all that jazz...but about a year or so later I was pretty well over it and on to other anime and couldn't have cared less. Even now I find myself more excited about WRITING about a Sailor Moon revival than the revival itself.
Anime Nation reports on a quote from Toei Animation Europe director general Kanji Kazahaya, who in discussing the series returning to TV broadcast in Italy says that "Italy is the ideal country to initiate a global re-launch of the classic Japanese animated series such as 'Sailor Moon.'"
That "such as," combined with no other word from Toei about a Sailor Moon revival, means that there's more than enough doubt as to whether the magical girl show itself will see a return, although there are new licenses for Dragon Ball and Digimon Frontier in Chile and Brazil, among other global movements.
Honestly, I'm not sure if I would sit down for a rebroadcast of Sailor Moon. I'd actually be more interested in a (well-done) remake of the anime than in the original-- perhaps one that followed some of the manga stuff more closely (story-wise it was mostly similar to the anime, but as is often the case, some stuff towards the end got pretty fuzzy). Maybe sort of like Dragon Ball Kai, except completely reanimated: just the Sailor Moon story without the filler/monster-of-the-week stuff (which was enjoyable, mind, I'm just yearning for something different).
I don't know, how about you? Any Sailor Moon-ies around?
