Ryōta Kise News

Ryōta Kise is a anime/manga character in the Kuroko's Basketball franchise

Welcome everyone, I had to cram the title a bit. I'm here to promote the show with short reviews as well as promoting the Kuroko's Basketball 3 Discussion thread. I will love to discuss the anime in reviews or discussion threads. If one falls short, I support the other. I won't be as consistent with anime reviews, but I'll try my best to keep this up.

Not doing the weekly, traditional episode review. I decided to do by matches because I feel it will be convenient on my end. I'm more casual than how usually I review. Just sharing highlights and cons. Please feel free to share your thoughts on these matches. I love this show and how crazy and over the top it gets.

Kise vs Haizaki

I was stoked to see Kise in action again after his team suffered a brutal defeat by Aomine's team back during Interhigh. Like all of our characters, Kise has come a long way. Thought we run out of bad guys after Hanamiya, here comes Haizaki who tries to hit on Alex and beat up Himuro.

This whole match focuses on these two's past and who is better, the thief or the copycat. Speaking of copycat, I wasn't expecting a character to actually "steal" moves from his opponents. Stuff like this in Kuroko's Basketball makes me smile at how far this show goes with their Shonen powers. Their past help build up to Akashi's character, showing us what kind of character is he. The match was excellent. Kise went full on "Kirby" on Haizaki, copying moves from the Generations of Miracle. The ridiculous copy was Kise imitating Murasakibara's block. Oh yeah, I made a comparison of Haizaki with Ban of Seven Deadly Sins for his pillaging techniques.

Historically, I had a hard time distinguishing and remembering characters in this show except Generations of Miracle. I didn't remember Kise's teammates. I mix up Kasamatsu with Hayakawa.

Midorima vs Akashi

Finally, we get to see Akashi in action. Back then, I used to joke with my friends on Akashi's powers and comparing Generations of Miracles to soldiers or stuff in the military.

  • Midorima - the sniper
  • Aomine - the shocktrooper
  • Murasakibara - the tank
  • Kuroko - stealth bomber
  • Kise - chameleon

I assumed Akashi was the tactician since he was seen playing Shogi in the past 2 seasons. With this match, he got ocular powers like from Naruto! I almost called him Kakashi. He is more like the Rinnegan characters or Sven Vollfied from Black Cat because Akashi's Emperor Eye allows him to see all "moves" in the future. One ridiculous thing about Akashi is how he makes folks trip in the match. I can't imagine what the audience on the outside think about the players just tripping because of this guy. It's just weird.

As for the match, I felt this was really one sided and short compared to Kise's match. It's a battle between two Generation of Miracle players, but Midorima's team got trumped by Akashi. When the match ends, Midorima tries to shake hands. I was surprised how Akashi didn't accept it. Low blow from an old teammate. Makes me wonder what kind of team and relationship they had. We only got glimpses mostly of Kise, Aomine, and Kuroko's stories of their team back in middle school.

Next match is a rematch between Kise and Kuroko's team!
