Wakana prepares breakfast for her father (dinner leftovers for him) and her pet cat. She asked her father about the flowers, and her father planted them without her permission. On the way to school, she bikes. Elsewhere Sawa is having a ride on her horse she stops a minute to smell some flowers before preparing for school. On the train, Konatsu listens to music and is greeted by a few classmates who pass her by. One of them is Taichi, who is biking to school early to practice badminton.

At Shirohamazaka High School in the morning some clubs are practicing together. Konatsu is part of the choir, but she is not singing or playing piano, instead she is just turning the pages of sheet music for the pianist. The choir teacher dismisses her students, she has high expectations of everyone in the choir and wants them to work extra hard for the upcoming choir recital. After being dismissed, the pianist tells Konatsu that she has memorized the music already, and that Konatsu should ask the teacher to sing in the choir. Konatsu keeps this in mind.

Wakana, Konatsu, and Sawa get to class. In the hallway, their homeroom teacher, Tomoko Takahashi, escorts a young male transfer student (Atsuhiro) who lived in Vienna for 12 years. When Tomoko, who is also pregnant, and Atsuhiro enter the class, Sawa cues her classmates to present their bouquets and presents to her. The class wishes Tomoko a happy maternity leave. Konatsu asks Wakana to sing, but Tomoko has Taichi sing for being late. Atsuhiro, being the new transfer student from Vienna, bows before his classmates after his introduction. Taichi is told with showing Atsuhiro around the school. After a while of doing this, it becomes obvious that Atsuhiro has some misconceptions about Japanese customs, but has been reading lots of books to try and make up for his time away from Japan.

In the parking lot, Tomoko texts Wakana her contact information. When Konatsu asks the choir teacher to sing, she reminds Konatsu what happened last year, and she tells Konatsu to give up singing. Enraged, Konatsu declares she is quitting, and Tomoko and Wakana arrive back at the office to witness the whole scene. In the bathroom, Konatsu vents her rage in the sink.

Sawa listens to Konatsu as she practices archery. Konatsu states she will start her own choir group and ask Sawa to sing in her club. Tomoko explains to Konatsu that she needs a total of five students in order to start up a club. Tomoko suggests that Konatsu invite Wakana to join her club. Wakana, who is taking after school lessons for credits to graduate, finishes her lesson. After the lesson, Konatsu asks to walk with her. As they walk home, Wakana finds it odd that Konatsu is walking home with her and reminds her about her resignation with the choir. Wakana refuses to sing, saying that she stopped a long time ago. They get into an argument ending with Wakana leaving on her bike and Konatsu shouting, "I don't want to give up before I've tried!"

At home, Wakana focuses on her homework. In Konatsu's home, she barges in Makoto's bath, and Konatsu asks if Mokoto will join her choir club. Konatsu threatens to revealing his porn stash to their mother if he does not join. Over at Atsuhiro's home, Atsuhiro writes a letter to his mother about Japanese customs.
