Roy Focker was one of the original variable fighter pilots for the UN Spacey. He is the mentor for Hikaru Ichijyo in SDF Macross.
SDF Macross: Do you Remember Love? - Roy is a Major in the U.N.Spacy military and is commander of Skull Squadron. He is portrayed as a bit of a drunk but otherwise is similar to how he was portrayed in the TV Series. While he does die in the movie (mirroring his series death) he dies after he, Hikaru, Lynn Minmay, Lynn Kaifunn, and Misa Hayase are captured. While the soldiers make their escape he is attacked by Kamjin Kravshere who crushes Roy inside his VF-1S. Roy fires his weapon through Kamjin and into his own Valkyrie causing it to detonate.
Robotech - Macross is the original story arc for the Robotech series. Roy is very similar to his japanese counterpart save his alcoholic tendencies and womanizing are downplayed. He was part of Pop Hunter's Flying Circus before joining the military. He would witness the arrival of the SDF-1 during the Unification Wars and would later become the test pilot for Project Valkyrie (the creation of the VF-1 Veritech). Roy's Skull One fighter was the original veritech and would outlive its test pilot by many years. Roy is aboard the SDF-1 when it accidentally folds to Pluto. He survives the trek across the stars to Earth and is killed a short time later from wounds suffered in battle.
