Welcome to Romeo x Juliet. Anyone who knows me should have realized this content cycle was bound to happen. Don't fight it, learn to like the... umm... Shakespeare.
RIGHT. Shakespeare, that's what Romeo x Juliet is allll about. Just a no nonsense, literal translation of a bunch of wacky kids in fair Verona. Of course, this is Neo Verona, horses fly, and the evil Lord Montague murdered all of the Capulets, save Juliet. This forces her to live in hiding as a boy. A girl who disguises herself as a boy, who disguises himself as "The Red Whirlwind" and fights injustice.
Yep. Literal translations only.
We've got a wealth of content planned for this feature, so make sure you come back throughout the week to check in. The list includes, but isn't limited to...
Romeo x Juliet
Sunday: Introduction
Monday: Openers and Enders
                Pretty Pretty Pictures
Tuesday: Ye Old English?
                  Tybalt is a Ninja?
Wednesday: The World's Best Boy/Girl Yaoi scene
                         The Balcony Scene
Thursday: The odd thing about Naming
                   Exploring Allusions
Friday: Cosplay

Yay! A feature on R X J! I hope we're not going to have to come to blows over this series; even though the writers completely botched the ending, I still love the show :P  The unique thing about this the show is that it allows for the possibility for a happy ending for the lovers, however they wouldn't be R X J if they didn't die. You could discuss the notion of free will and destiny. Remember Shakespeare is not Old English, it's Early Modern. In the naming section, the mention of the emergence of the individual from the family should be addressed. You should have a feature focused on shaping identity and gender performance. But that's my english major two cents. Shakespeare is one of many loves and R X J remains one of my fave plays.
