Roman Saotome News

Roman Saotome is a anime/manga character in the Sket Dance franchise
| |

Howdy everyone and welcome to the weekly Sket Dance report! Things are getting hectic in Sket Dance since we have two new members for Tsubaki's team. They're quite quirky in their own way.

Plot

After Hime discovers a peeping tom who stare at her as she changed in the girls' locker room, she asks Bossun and Switch to help catch the creep. However, Bossun and Switch ignore her plea as they watch a student spider climbing. Meanwhile, Roman and Michinori are having a manga faceoff to determine who is the better mangaka.

Watch this fabulous episode on Crunchyroll!

Verdict

Beware of spoilers!

Good

  • For you Kiri and Hani fans, the first story is great for you. Kiri and Tsubaki's relationship is improving. I find their relationship similar to Bossun and Tsubaki's relationship before they discover that they are twins.
  • For you Roman fans, she faces off with Michinori. Instead of showing her wacky manga, we get two crazy manga, and some new characters.
  • The Osamu Tezuka reference is awesome, and I love how it ties in with Roman's manga niche since Tezuka is the father of anime.

Bad

  • For Michinori, his character is weak. Even though he is a minor character, I expected more from a shonen mangaka who is supposed to be Roman's rival. I guess my expectations was too high since Michinori and Roman are both goofy artists.
  • Fan Service or Not: Some of you might love Hani or just hate it.

Overall, this episode is good. Some of you might love the first story while others will enjoy the second story. For me, I like the first story since it involves Kiri and Hani who are just warming up to Tsubaki's group and Sket Dan.

Thanks

Thank you everyone for your supports. Sorry for rushing these blogs. For most of my teammates, school is already starting, so it's going to be tough to keep up the Sket Dance wiki work at Anime Vice and Sket Dance Wikia as well as the Sket Dance coverage.

Hello everyone and welcome to the Weekly Sket Dance report! Now, we're in an arc called School Trip Rhapsody where Bossun and Himeko have switched bodies during a school field trip to Niigata. Who knows what embarrassing things await Bossun and Himeko.

Plot

With Himeko and Bossun's body switched, things get tense when their female classmates asks Himeko (Bossun) to change or to take a bath, and Bossun (Himeko)'s help is making things worse. Meanwhile, Switch is keeping an eye out for Saaya, Sasuke is acting like a cat, and Chuma is making a cure for Bossun and Himeko. Can the two bear each other's burden despite sheer embarrassment?

Don't forget to check out the wiki page and its image gallery!

Verdict

Good

Himeko: I know you'll touch them, right?
Himeko: I know you'll touch them, right?
  • There are tons of hilarious moments in this episode. Tsubaki is now acting like a cat because he took the hypno drug while the cat meowed at him. It explains why Bossun is cat boy in the opening.
  • In Bossun's body, Himeko's answers has make Bossun's reputation go down when she blurts that she wants to see Himeko's body naked in the bath. Saaya gets upset. Plus, I find Bossun's reaction to Himeko's request hilarious when she wants Bossun to touch them.
  • Roman and Reiko are nice surprises with their scenes. Reiko thinks Switch is stalking Saaya while Roman finds out that Bossun and Himeko switched bodies.

Bad

Airing the toilet scene might be a bit too naughty for kids
Airing the toilet scene might be a bit too naughty for kids
  • Hit or Miss: I watched the episode twice and read some comments from fans on Crunchyroll. After Roman breaks the 4th wall, the creator tells the audiences that he cannot air the changing and bathroom scenes because we have a young audience. For me, the changing scene does not seem too bad, but the bathroom scene is hard. Once you read the chapter, you learn that Himeko and Bossun help each use the toilet. If that scene is in the anime, you would hear urinating sounds.
  • Pointless Fan Service: Mimori's bouncing breasts and the Kuramoto's bath scenes seems out of place. I enjoyed Daisy's scene where she rips Tsubaki's cat ears off. Sket Dance is an anime that doesn't need fan service to boost ratings. Fan Service should be for more adult shows.

Overall, the episode is great for everyone, but the missing manga scenes can be a nuisance to those who wished to see it animated. The preview sounds exciting when Himeko asks Bossun what he would say to Saaya's question. I hope Saaya's heart won't break in the next episode.

Welcome to the weekly Sket Dance report! It's already been a week, and summer is just starting for all of us. This week, Sket Dance's episode is about Roman, Fumi, and Sasuke Tsubaki.

Plot

The Manga Girl Goes Wild and Holds a Meeting

With Roman being the top manga artist in her club, Fumi asks Himeko and Bossun to check her one shot story. Will the judges love Fumi's work?

Later, Sasuke Tsubaki comes to school without his contacts and stumbles upon the Sket Dan who are imitating the Kaimei Student Council. Meanwhile, the Kaimei Student Council is getting bored by the principal's stories about his grandson. Will the Sket Dan be able to pull off fooling Sasuke until the real student council returns?

Verdict

Beware of spoilers!

Good

Fumi gets some spotlight!
Fumi gets some spotlight!
  • This time, Fumi Segawa's work gets spotlighted in this episode instead of Roman. Roman has a funny split personality with her chibi self giving pointers and her influential writer mode giving harsh criticism.
  • Bossun's impressions of Sojiro and Shinba are awesome. Plus, Switch trying to fool Sasuke with his hair clip is hilarious.
  • We finally see how Sasuke is like without his contacts.

Overall

There's not much bad stuff in this episode. I find both stories excellent, but I'm find Sasuke's story more entertaining with Bossun's impressions and how Sasuke is easily fool with his poor vision.

Thanks

Thank you guys and gals for reading my teammates' weekly reports. Please give them some recognition for their hard work on the Sket Dance franchise.

Overview

Welcome to the Sket Dance weekly report by Team W.I.K.I. Nation. Right now, I'm contemplating about stopping the Sket Dance reports because I got multiple anime projects with its weekly reports. Don't worry fans, Sora_thekey will provide coverage on the Sket Dance anime. He's a new member to our team. Please welcome him. He's more funnier than me. It's more time effective to work on the wiki and provide images while Sora does the reviews.

It's teamwork.

Plot

Ep. 42: Suddenly, Momoka's Road to Being a Stage Actress - "Yaniwani Momoka butai joyū e no michi" (やにわにモモカ舞台女優への道)

This episode has two stories about Momoka, Hime, and Roman. The first one is about Momoka who asks her friends to help her gain a deeper insight into a script for her audition in a play. The second story begins with Hime wondering what career she would have in the future, and when Switch brings up Roman, Roman appears and brings good news. She has made her first debut as a manga artist.

Will Momoka understand the meaning behind the script, will Hime know what she would become in the future, and did Roman really made her debut as a manga artist?

Find out by watching Sket Dance on Crunchyroll.

*This episode is based chapter 99 (vol. 11) and chapter 78 (vol. 9).

Verdict

Beware of Spoilers!

Good

There's so many hilarious scenes in this episode. I pick the best three, and you guys do the same.

  • Bossun and Momoka's acting scenes ends so randomly. Out of nowhere, Bossun hands Momoka, an Anthony action figure.

  • Bakuman Reference: Roman just makes me laugh hard when I made the connection. Will she and Fumi make their anime debut? I think so since the judges showcased Roman's work, Sudden Temptation.
  • After Bossun and Momoka make Japanese words sound like English words, Bossun ends it with Shinji running away. See this pun, Shinjirarenai (Unbelievable) sounds like Shinji run away.

Bad

Sudden Temptation = old gags
Sudden Temptation = old gags
  • There's not much bad things in Momoka's story. However, Roman's second story seems like her other story where she shows off her nonsensical story for the first time. Not to hurt the Roman fans, but the humor seems stale. No offense though. Roman should show off more herself instead her silly manga story. She is one of the funniest girls in the series. I liked her alien call, her rivalry with Switch at drawing Bossun, and her drive to please Bossun, her "prince."

Bizarre

  • Roman's Alien Call
    Roman's Alien Call
Roman's "Tee Hee" and sound effects are bizarre, but it suits Roman. Her alien call is the best I find her crying scene cute. Not to sound weird, okay guys.
  • Why is Momoka's singing "Nervous" so catchy? It didn't stick with me.
  • Momoka's luck streak in her career is unbelieving lucky. She is a delinquent whose performance in the puppet episode got her career in voicing anime characters. She's a pop idol, and now she's an actress. Sket Dance really likes pop idol culture. The most obsessed guys who love anime and pop idols are Otakura and Switch, of course.

Overall, I find this episode enjoyable and give it a four out of five. Momoka's story is better than Roman in terms of humor. Roman just needs to show off more of her quirky personality and less of her craptastic drawings.

I would like to see Switch, Sasuke, and Roman participating in a crappy drawing show off. I mean artist showoff contest. Plus, I haven't seen much of Roman's Otome filter.

Trivia

I add some folks.

Overview

Welcome to another weekly Sket Dance report! (More like biweekly, it doesn't sound pleasant enough). If you guys know my teammates of Team W.I.K.I. Nation, they are Annabanana, KuroNekoXIII, MohsinMan99, HalberdierV2, Hibaru, and Piface314. I will also mention a friend of our team, Sophronimos, who is a great wiki editor. He worked on Sket Dance and Gintama from time to time. Let's discuss these two lovely Sket Dance episodes, 38 and 39. 38 was the last episode for 2011 while 39 start off the New Year.

For Image Lovers: Please see ep. 39's gallery and for 38, check my profile's gallery marked Sket Dance. 38 is Anna's wiki page, so I didn't want to upload images if she already had images in her computer. I can't have all the fun. :)

Plot

Ep. 38: Kigurumi Break - "Kigurumi bureiku" (きぐるみぶれいく)

Specter and the gang
Specter and the gang

The Sket Dan takes Remi's request to fill in the mascots for the show, Together With Mommy. However, things go awry when Sket Dan get locked in a storage shed. Will Sket Dan get free before the show can begin?

Ep. 39: One Broken, Special... New Year's - "Kowarete shimatta tokubetsu-na ...shōgatsu" (壊れてしまった特別な…正月)

Special Mariko Broken!
Special Mariko Broken!

SKET Dan plays another game with Yamanobe, and this time, they are playing Special Mariko Broken, a video game about the main heroine and her romantic relationship with her boss. This episode has a bonus clip or montage of events that happened in the anime with some comedic twists.

Find out by watching Sket Dance! You can watch them legally on Crunchyroll.

Verdict

Characters

From left to right, we have the mascots for the show, Together with Mommy. Bossun is Specter, Hime is Phantom, and Switch is Bogey.
Mariko
Mariko
Mariko is the main heroine and she is based on Mario from Super Mario Bros. According to Yamanobe, she is in a relationship with her manager. I don't know why she is fighting her boss at the end of the game. The Kanji for Mariko, マリコ, can be changed to the Kanji Mario, マリオ, by changing one Kanji.
Luigiana
Luigiana
Luigiana is the twin sister of Mariko, and she is based on Luigi from the same game. She helps Mariko beat her manager. The same changes is similar to Mariko. The Kanji for Luigiana, ルイジアナ, can be changed to the Kanji for Luigi, ルイージ , by changing one Kanji.

Beware of Spoilers!

Good

  • Ep. 38

You can't even use your hand to save your life
You can't even use your hand to save your life
  1. This episode clearly shows you that the best plan can goes wrong.
  2. We get to see Momoka and her gang entertain the crowd with her Yankee improv.
  3. Bossun's intellect gets tested to the extreme. There's so many obstacles in order to get out of the damn storage room.
  • Ep. 39

Eringi madness
Eringi madness
  1. The video game references are awesome. By that main image, you can see the Super Mario Bros allusion. There are several points of interest involving eringi instead of mushrooms and the names of these heroines.
  2. The story has a nice montage with Reiko's twist. I loved Reiko. I put it in a spoiler block. It's like a present for those who watch the episodes!
  3. Roman's pun is such a nice scene of breaking the 4th wall. (see wiki page's points of interest on ep. 39)
  4. For Shinzo, Roman, and Reiko fans, there are good montage scenes.

Reiko just wants the spotlight.

Bad

  • There is not much bad things about these episodes. I didn't like Hyperion or Genesis, but this time, Yamanobe did okay for me.

Bizarre

  • Ep. 38

  1. Not much bizarre things. The only thing I noticed is how everyone love their idols just like how we loved our celebrities in America. The only difference is that Japanese idols are younger.
  • Ep. 39

Naughty scene, perhaps?
Naughty scene, perhaps?
  1. Why was Switch teasing Luigiana a bit before he went off the beat the game?
  2. Why do we have a random Moe character?
  3. Comment on Crunchyroll made my day. "She totally deepthroated that fish" by OldThrashBar
  4. The ending credits had Mariko and Luigiana eating eringi in a suggestive manner. Or maybe my mind is in the gutter after reading that comment about Reiko deepthroating that fish.
  5. Speaking of dirty things, that candy came out of the controller look like a tentacle to me.
  6. Off Tangent Thing: I did a weekly report on Beelzebub where they had a video game parody, too. I find Sket Dance a little funnier than Beelzebub in parodying video games.

Overall, these episodes are fantastic but not perfect. There's no drama or sadness which is great. Because the last two episodes were about Hime's origin story, the staff ended and began the year with hilarious stories. Those origin stories are like diamonds in the sea of laughing gas.

Taka's Amateur Stitched Cap

Since Anna is on vacation for R & R with the rest of my teammates, there is no Anna's Stitched Cap Gallery section. I searched for a stitched cap for these two episodes with no luck. (In Fairy Tail Wikia, they have nice stitched caps.) Sadly, Sket Dance Wikia doesn't have one, but they have a nice image gallery. I decided to make one myself. I picked Momoka because I have a soft side for tomboys. It's not perfect because you see on Momoka's right arm where some portions is darker than others. I have no idea why. I find the matching the fingers and hair difficult. Please enjoy my amateur stitched cap of Momoka and her gang. Thank you.

Taka's Stitched Cap for Momoka and friends
Taka's Stitched Cap for Momoka and friends

If there's anyone who's good, please give me some advice. It's my first time of making a stitched cap.

Thanks

I thank you guys for reading my team's report, and I thank my team for working hard on Sket Dance and other projects in the Anime Vice community. Please give them a round of applause. Do follow them. I'm grateful to work with them. It's no fun working on wiki pages by yourself.

Overview

Welcome to the 12th weekly article for Sket Dance! My team and I are happy to discuss last week's episode with you guys. For those who do not know my team, they are Annabanana, KuroNekoXIII, HalberdierV2, Hibaru, and Piface314. This week's episode is back to its two story formula that focuses on two silly and quirky characters, Remi Misora and Roman Saotome.

Plot

Roman's Craptastic Manga Laboratory

The first story focuses on Roman Saotome who has come to ask SKET Dan to review her craptastic manga handbook. She tells them that she is doing it for her club member, Fumi Segawa. Although Bossun and his crew are hesitant, they help the poor girl.

Will Roman's craptastic handbook make a difference in her manga club or will she fail?

Do Your Best, Onee-san !

Specter
Specter

The second story focuses on Remi Misora who is still plagued by her clumsiness. After Remi has fail with her history lesson, Bossun and the gang help her clean up the classroom. In the process, Remi talks about her farewell gift from her TV show, Specter (a blue ghoulish, looking doll). When a boy throws a baseball (It's probably Eiichi) into the classroom and asks for the ball, Remi throws Specter to him instead of the ball. Remi and the gang hunt for the ball where they meet a group of kindergarteners and Suemasu.

Will Remi get her confidence and be able teach students or will she quit and go home crying!

Tune in and watch Sket Dance episode 34!

Verdict

Beware of Mild Spoilers!

Good

It's craptastic all right
It's craptastic all right
  • Remi Misora and Roman never change a bit which is good. They have their own unique personality that makes the comedy fresh.
  • Roman's silly antics in her bizarre manga handbook will leave you scratching your head or laughing out loud.
  • Remi's performance with the kindergarteners will reveal her strengths and a side to Remi that the audience has never seen before.
  • One of the stories' quests had an epic fail. I won't tell you.

Bad

  • Not much bad stuff to report. I can tell you Remi's story had conflict in it which made it more interesting and better than Roman's story.

Bizarre

Remi and Chuuma
Remi and Chuuma
  • Roman seems to draw her boobs bigger. It seems she has breast envy.
  • Another pairing?: Remi and Chuuma had a lot of moments alone. Plus, you'll see that Chuuma looks at Remi when she teaches class. What was he thinking at that moment?
  • Roman's craptastic manga drawing had some side effects that are more terrible than her shoujo otome powers.
  • Speaking of Roman's otome filter, she did not do it unless you count the manga.
  • Roman has a drawing rival, Switch, who is a weirdo, too.
  • On Crunchyroll, I remember a comment that suggests that Remi is more suited for teaching kindergarten. This is such a brilliant idea!

Overall, this episode is great and better than the Thief Dan, Plus episode. It's a nice comic relief episode to get away from episode 33's tense, mystery case.

Animated GIFs

I had made three GIFs for this report, though the Remi's one is a bit choppy. Looks like I need more practice. Plus, I made Bossun's drawing GIFs! Please tell me if they're a bit too slow.

Thanks

Thank you guys for reading our team's weekly report. I thank my team for doing their best to put in some time for their wiki projects and this one with college ending in a few weeks. We're almost there to freedom.

This Week's Work

Anna did a fantastic job on this episode's plot summary and uploaded a lot of images. I worked on Saori Yasuda's page and finished her story arcs, origin, and anime/manga differences. I will do Sakiko after this blog. Please see our team's wiki contribution list.

We hope you guys get active in this community and even make a weekly blogs on other shows like some obscure titles. We need the help of the community to keep this place running.
