Summary

The episode begins from where the crew has all gathered at the roof of the court house.

Spandam is concerned for his life and promotion. He tries to intimidate the crew with his Golden Den Den Mushi.

The rush of memories of the Buster Call flood Robin's mind.

The scene flashes back in time 20 years ago to when Robin was an eight year old girl. Ohara was in the West Blue.

The opening theme starts.

As a child Robin was frequently teased by the other children. They called her a monster. Even at eight, she showed she had a Devil Fruit power. She attacked the teasers with those abilities. Eventually, one of their mothers comes to complain to her. She just closed her book and ran off.

She watches the happy families walking the streets. Robin returned to her aunt's home and finds no one home. She finds a note that says it's her daughters birthday so the family went out to eat a nice dinner without 'intruders'. She left some bread for Robin. She's not to use too much jam and ten she has chores. It's a very Cinderella-esque life.

Night falls and she comes to a giant tree in on the island. She came to return her book. She walks in and there is a huge celebration just for her. Robin had taken a degree test for archeology the other day. She passed her test. These people are scholars of Ohara.

This tree is a giant library. It's called the Tree of Omniscience. It's five thousand years old. In this library we see what is assumed to be a globe or solar system that is possibly of this universe.

Robin says she wants to solve the mystery of the Missing Century. Clover tells her that is forbidden knowledge. Even at this age she knows of the Ponegylphs.

They tell her that if she tries to spy on their research again into the Ponegylphs they will ban her from the library. She runs off crying. One of the scholars say she's following in her mother's shadow. Clover knows that a few days ago her mother was captured.

The next day, Robin is walking the beaches. She finds a giant washed up on shore. He wakes up and she leads him to some fresh water. Talking to himself, he wonders if 'that person' is alright as well. He had hoped to find a deserted island.

He says that he's not from a warring clan of giants from Elbaf. They talk and he uses an odd laugh, such as with most giants. "Dereshi-shi-shi!"

Saul tells Robin that he's being pursued.

Three days after Saul's landing. Robin is with Saul, and he's building a raft. Saul asks if her parents would be worried with her out all day, every day. She says she doesn't have any parents. Robin says she has a mother, but she's sailing for her job.

She shows Saul her Devil Fruit powers. He's unfazed.

Saul tells Robin that when she's sad she should laugh, because laughing helps make you happy.

On the World Goverment ship, the man with the goatee and blue earring is Kalifa's father. Their boss is Spandam's father, Spandine.

On the next day a woman comes ashore to Ohara. It's Robin's mother.
