Rise Kujikawa is a former pop idol who moves back to Inaba.
Rise Kujikawa was born in Inaba in 1995. Some time before the series began, she was joined a talent agency and quickly became a massive teen pop idol under the stage name Risette. She worked as an idol for a few years before finding it to be less exciting than what is used to be. Not to mention that people were beginning to assume that she was some air headed sex symbol who had no personality aside from looking pretty. She announces that she is going to go on hiatus for a while as she moves back to Inaba to work out of her grandmother's tofu shop.
Rise Kujikawa is a main character from the Shin Megami Tensei series of games and specifically the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 video game for the Playstation 2. It's the sixth game of the franchise and was developed as a murder mystery RPG with deep social aspects. It was developed by ATLUS in Japan, directed by Katsuro Hashino, and character design by Shigenori Soejima. It was released in Japan in July 10, 2008, and in the U.S. on December 9, 2008.
The series was later adapted into a manga written and illustrated by Shuji Sogabe, and began serialization in ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Black Maoh magazine on September 19, 2008. The anime adaption began in October of 2011 and is directed by Seiji Kishi.
Her manga first appearance was in Persona 4 (chapter to be determined), and her first anime appearance was in Persona 4 The Animation - Episode 9 "No one sees the real me". Her character in the Japanese series is voiced by Rie Kugimiya , and the U.S. dub has not been announced.
Rise, along with the rest of the Investigation Team members, appears briefly in Chapter 1 of the manga during the introduction pages for the series.
Rise uses the power of the Lovers Arcana. Her persona is Himiko and when her Social Link maxes out, it evolves into Kanzeon. Rise is not a standard party member due to the abilities of her persona. Instead, she stays behind the front line and provides information about enemies as well as can scan the Midnight Channel for lost people.
Initial Persona: Himiko
Ultimate Persona: Kanzeon
In the Persona 4 PS2 game, Rise is one of the numerous potential love interests, and she is the first playable character to appear during the beginning cinema during one of her commercials for a soda. She is voiced in the Japanese version by Rie Kugimiya, the same voice actress from the anime; and the English version is performed by Laura Bailey. Rise can be dated, and her Social link story follows the main protagonist helping her come to terms of leaving her celebrity status behind. Completing this Social Link allows Himiko to ascend to Kanzeon.
