Rin Tohsaka

Origin

Young, Happy Rin

Rin Tohsaka is the descendant of the Tohsaka House family of mages. She is the last known remaining successor and has been training all of her life for the Holy Grail War and the ritual that's required to summon her servant for the war. She has her own western style house that she was entrusted with to take care of and uses it as her home base when the war begins. Kirei Kotomine is her guardian and she learned some mage techniques from him. Her sister is Sakura and they had to go their separate ways at a young age.

Rin Tohsaka, who is created by Urobuchi Gen and Type-Moon, has no current information on what inspires her creation at this moment. She first appears in Fate Stay Night episode 1 and volume 1. For movies, she first appears in Unlimited Blade Works. Her Japanese voice actress is Kana Ueda, and her English voice actress is Mela Lee.

Tohsaka is a prime example of a tsundere with how she acts aggressively but that's how she shows her affection.

Relationships

Her relationship with Archer is a strong partnership. For Fate Stay Night (anime), she is very attached to Archer when she cries after Archer has been killed. In Unlimited Blade Works, she and Archer have a shakey relationship due to Archer's murderous intent for Shirou.

Her relationship with Shirou is very different in the anime and the movie. For Fate Stay Night (anime), she is like a teacher to Shirou where she teaches Shirou how to fight and act like a proper master to Saber. She is a friend to Shirou when she fights along side with him despite Archer's disapproval. For Unlimited Blade Works, Rin and Shirou's relationship blossoms into romance.

When the Holy Grail War begins she starts her summoning ritual late so she ends up summoning Archer as her servant. At first she is disappointed, but she grows to like him and his combat abilities. Tohsaka teams up with Shirou not too far into the war after they decide that would be best and she has a certain fondness for Shirou though Archer disagreed with the whole teaming up thing.

Powers and Abilities

She specializes in the transformation of energy, which could be stored in Mana jewels. Her body generates Mana constantly so over the years she has been depositing her Mana in jewels so that she could use them in the future Holy Grail War. These jewels are very expensive and could rob one of their fortunes if the average person had to pay for them; she's no average person in wealth, grades and looks. Another ability she has reinforcement, she can use it on herself to increase her speed in her legs for instance. The rank in mage attacks is considered to be A when she is using her Gand, which shoots out a bullet type attack.
