Rikka Takanashi is a freshman in high school who believes she has the "Wicked Eye", a delusion from middle school.
Rikka Takanashi grew up in Japan with her older sister Toka and her loving parents. Unbeknownst to her, when she started middle school, her father began to grow ill. Wanting to avoid worrying her, he asked the family never to tell Rikka the true nature of his condition. This wouldn't work so well as his condition worsened one day and died suddenly while Rikka was at school. At first, Rikka took the loss like any other person would. Before she and Toka were to move to their grandparent's home while their mother took care of business, she discovered Yuta Togashi during the days when he believed himself to be the Dark Flame Master. Observing him for several days before the move, she grew to admire his determination to be himself despite looking kind of silly.
When she moved to her grandparent's, Rikka claims she discovered something called the Etthereal Horizon, a place where her father was watching over her. It was at this time she created what looks to be an eighth grade syndrome case by taking interest in the occult and covering her right eye with a medical patch, claiming she had been given the Wicked Eye.
Rikka Takanashi was created by Toroka for the light novel series Even People with Adolescent Delusions of Grandeur Want To Experience Love! in 2011 as the female protagonist for the series. She was adapted into the anime Chūnibyō Demo Koi ga Shitai! by Tatsuya Ishihara in 2012 to serve as the female lead. Rikka is voiced by Maaya Uchida in the Japanese anime.
